PLEASE CHECK THIS OUT......
"First they came for the Communists but I was not a Communist so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Socialists & the Trade Unionists but I was not one of them, so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Jews but I was not Jewish so I did not speak out. And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me." Martin Niemoeller
There is a lot of wisdom in the quotation above. Please heed the intent. Wake up America.

INSANITY....
- Insanity: doing the same thing over & over again & expecting different results.
- Albert Einstein
- This is not partisan. Democrats, Republicans, Independents & anybody who has been in Congress for at least the last 60 years is culpable. This pretty well puts it all in perspective.
To the Congress of the United States of America:
The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775 - you have had 234 years to get it right; it is broke.
Social Security was established in 1935 - you have had 74 years to get it right; it is broke.
Fannie Mae was established in 1938 - you have had 71 years to get it right; it is broke.
The "War on Poverty" started in 1964 - you have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor"; it hasn't worked and our entire country is broke.
Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965 - you've had 44 years to get it right; they are broke.Freddie Mac was established in 1970 - you have had 39 years to get it right; it is broke.
Trillions of dollars were spent in the massive political payoffs called TARP, the "Stimulus", the Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009... none show any signs of working, although ACORN appears to have found a new b***h: the American taxpayer.
And finally, to set a new record:
"Cash for Clunkers" was established in 2009 and went broke in 2009! It took good dependable cars (that were the best some people could afford) and replaced them with high-priced and less-affordable cars, mostly Japanese. A good percentage of the profits went out of the country. And the American taxpayers take the hit for Congress' generosity in burning three billion more of our dollars on failed experiments.
So with a perfect 100% failure rate and a record that proves that "services" you shove down our throats are failing faster and faster, you want Americans to believe you can be trusted with a government-run health care system?
Nearly 20% of our entire economy?
With all due respect,
Are you crazy?

what are we doing?
WHY? Can these idiots in the house/senate have not been listening to all the discussions, protests, pleas, begging, etc. that has taken place since April 15, 2009? Are they really & truly that deaf?
Short answer: YES
Long answer: YES
For far too long, & yes I was once one of these people, WE THE PEOPLE have gone to the polls & elected people that we actually thought were working for us. Then I went back to my life -- raising children, participating in the community, being a person with a busy life. And now I have woken up & am really truly angry at what Ron Kind & Russ Feingold have/haven't done for Wisconsin. I am truly angry for Texas as I experience Sylvestre Reyes & Kay Bailey-Hutchinson for the same reasons, what they have/haven't done. And I am spending a lot of time here in Texas with my Dad since my Mother died, so I know.
WE THE PEOPLE have been complacent too long. We have abrogated our responsibilities to people who -- shock of shocks -- are only interested in lining their own pockets. And before you want to take me to task for that last statement, look at the reality of someone who makes less than $200,000 per year & yet becomes a millionaire within a few years of being elected.They are happily bought & paid for by lobbyists. Their family members are bought & paid for by lobbyists. I'm sure it doesn't stop with lobbyists, but this is just the most obvious route to their making BIG money.
AND WE HAVE ALLOWED IT. WE HAVE LOOKED THE OTHER WAY. WE HAVE PRETENDED THEY WOULD ACTUALLY DO WHAT THEY SAID DURING CAMPAIGNS. WE HAVE WATCHED AS THEY WALK OVER US BECAUSE WE ELECTED THEM, THEN LAY DOWN & WROTE 'WELCOME' ACROSS OUR COLLECTIVE FOREHEAD.
It is past time to hold them accountable. They need to become regular people again. No monies other than salary & they must get approval from WE THE PEOPLE before voting more raises & perks. They must participate in the Social Security System & Medicare -- no more of the 'mercedes benz' coverage they have & the lifetime of full salary. Enough is enough. It is time they are exempt from no laws that govern WE THE PEOPLE.
Lying was easy for the pols. Now reality is here. The Giant will not be going back to sleep now. Politicians had better face the reality they are messing up, have messed up, & no amount of chit-chat, franking letters, emails, will make up for the mess they have made & now want to pretend does not exist.
It is past time.
WAKE UP. GET INVOLVED. PAY ATTENTION. BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR YOUR VOTES.
Once that happens, maybe, just maybe, WE THE PEOPLE will have a chance for a government that listens to it's people & is fair & equitable; a government living/breathing/abiding by the Constitution & the Bill of Rights.
I just hope it happens before this current house/senate causes a civil war. Because that truly is what will happen if these people in congress keep trying to step on WE THE PEOPLE.
The 'Sleeping Giant' has been awakened. And, really, it's about time. Now the catch will be to get the Giant in a good mood. I don't believe this congress can do that....they have gone too far, too fast, with too little thought of what WE THE PEOPLE wanted/expected from them.

More confusion....
- the 'health care plan' the house of reps passed provided for 'end of life' counseling mandatory every 5 years OR yearly (or more often) if the patient has chronic or terminal illnesses. Now that is supposed to be out of the bill. Is it? This very personal decision should be made by the patient with their family, not someone who is to benefit, i.e. the doctor & the government.
- the money to support this plan STRIPS Medicare/Medicare Advantage/Medicaid & this, plus more taxes on those who make over $250,000 per year.
- there will be no rationing even though funds will be limited & the age of the patient will be a hugely determining factor in decisions of care offered/provided.
- Abortions will be covered, transgender surguries will be covered -- all courtesy of the taxpayer.
- the U.S. is BORROWING 75 BILLION dollars every week & for every TRILLION in deficit, we owe at least 25 BILLION in interest every year.
- according to the CBO (Congressional Budget Office), fewer than 10 million of the 43 million uninsured will be covered.
- house of reps & senators who are on break & were not willing to face constituents right now & have simply put an end to their own careers as reps or senators; lobbying will be where they will all go though as has always been done in the past.
- illegal aliens WILL be counted in the census - as though they are full-fledged citizens. WHY?
- Mexico is complaining about the U.S. deporting illegals back to Mexico & wants us to stop it because it causes too many problems; we are IDIOTS if we give in to this!!!!!
- Illegal aliens in the U.S. send 30 to 50 BILLION dollars back home to Mexico every year; but pay no income taxes even though they are using public services: health care (yep), schools, etc. Yes, IF they buy something, they pay sales tax, but that's it.
- When illegal aliens get credit cards or loans for college, homes or whatever, when they stop paying them, there is no going after them or tracing them or tracking them down. So, again it comes back on the American TAXPAYER.
- Every developed country in the world tracks every immigrant. Overstay your 'school visa' & they hunt you down, jail you, fine you & deport you. At YOUR expense. We do less than nothing.
- Politicians have exempted not only themselves (& family) from the 'public option' of the proposed health care, UNIONS are getting to keep their health care & here's the kicker: it will ALL be paid, especially thru retirement, by the TAXPAYER.
- Nancy Pelosi says protesters of the 'health care' bill are carrying swastika signs. What she left out was that there was ONE sign that had a swastika on it with a circle drawn around it & slash thru it -- indicating, sanfran-nan -- NOT nazis. Someone should educate this stupid woman. Unfortunately, she is stupid by CHOICE; ignorant people are willing to learn - stupid people are not. She defines the NOT side of the previous statement. Of course, it is not the first time she has lied. And it won't be the last.
- Last, but absolutely not least, what is with these senators & reps inserting new amendments & garbage into bills immediately before they are to be voted on? Our senators & reps already admit they do not read the bills (no time?) but have others on their staffs peruse bills & then give them a condensed version of what a bill is about. The elected person then decides to vote/not vote/vote 'present' when the bill comes up. This is not what we hired - elected - them to do. No company in the world would work like this, yet we have been complacent & allowed these people to get away with this for a very long time.
WHAT IS THE NEXT INDUSTRY THE POTUS & COMPANY ARE GOING TO TARGET? Thus far, they are trying to take over banking, credit card companies, car companies, mainstream media outlets (Fox is not falling in line with them though & it is driving them all to distraction) education (aka indoctrination) of our children & now, health care.
Who/what is next on their hit-list?
Tuesday, October 20, 2009
Pretty smart young man. He has it right -- I am so sick of the RACIST label when anyone DARES to even ask a question or disagree with this POTUS or Congress.
People are now tuning out the RACIST rants & garbage of that ilk because it is said over & over & now people are numb to it. People in general are sick of being called names simply for asking questions. Yes, there ARE racists in America. But they are the MINORITY of the population, not the majority this administration is trying desperately to make people believe.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. It is time to evict every senator or house rep. They have screwed us so bad that even the good ones need to be gone. No more cushy, lucrative lobbyist jobs, no more lifetime retirement packages, no more lifetime excellent healthcare as they work to remove what the rest of us have.
Fair is fair. They can live with Social Security as their retirement. They can try to figure out how to pay medical bills not covered by the 'cadillac' plans they now have. If all this stuff is so damn GOOD for the people. they need to be on it also.
Recall, fire, evict every one of them. It is time. Actually, it is way past the expiration date to recall, fire, &/or evict every single senator & rep. Their time is up. Move aside. Time for new blood.
They cannot possibly screw things up worse than this administration & congress are doing.

so much buzzing .....
Yet, stroll around with your eyes wide open. The issues on the table - there are many - are serious, in some cases extremely so. What I want to do is try to open your eyes if you are thinking I am a hardcore republican who bashes democrats for the sake of bashing -- which is definitely NOT the case. This country is way beyond republican vs. democrat, liberal vs. conservative, white vs. (all other) color. So, let's wander & while doing so, imagine what the ACLU would be doing if this were a republican as prez or a republican-controlled senate or house. Strangely, they & their ilk remain silent, only confirming what most of the 'ordinary' people believe: the ACLU is only concerned with a political ideology - democrat = good, republican = evil.
Let's stroll:
- Jan. 6, 2009 Rep. Jose Serrano (D-NY), an obvious Obama fan, is proposing (H.J.Res. 5) "an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.
- Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX) is proposing a bill (HR 73), "To provide for the collection of data on traffic stops."
- almost every bill -- especially the PORK -- includes the tag line: "for other purposes." What does that mean? That the money can be used for many other things that may or may not have any bearing whatsoever on what the bill was originally intended to do.
- Because states are unlikely to agree to the 'Real I.D. Act' introduced in 2005, it has been replaced with the 'Pass I.D. Act'. Altho you may be tempted to believe this will be better, it is absolutely not. In fact, there is a provision in it that scares the hell out of me: the PASS ID Act gives the Secretary of Homeland Security "unreviewable discretion" to issue driver's licenses and state ID cards under the Minimum Issuance Standards Section (c)(2)(B) "Evidence of Lawful Status" items (v), (xii), as well as under Section (C) Temporary Drivers Licenses and Identification Cards item (i). The term "unreviewable discretion" raises questions about the definition of this term as it relates to oversight, privacy protections, and judicial review. Everyone in this country will be required to have this I.D. within a year of passage of the final bill. Otherwise, you will be unable to board an airplane, apply for Social Security, etc. Now, does this sound good to you? Why isn't the ACLU screaming? Why isn't the MSM jumping up & down? Could it be because both have such a double standard: one for republicans & one for democrats.
- TRANSPARENCY. There is none. In fact, less than none. But, I'll explain that remark later. For now, think back to all the campaigning: every bill would be posted for 5 days minimum so the public could read it, comment, approve, etc. BEFORE it was voted on. Not only has that not happened, the bills that have been passed contain so much language that has nothing to do with the actual basis for the original bill, it is ridiculous. No bill has been posted & given the 'light of day' before being voted on & it doesn't look like that will happen anytime soon. *Now that the public is coming out in droves to question, discuss, protest, object, approve, whatever, the 'Obama Health Care Plan' the House of Representatives PASSED, why is the President saying now that we don't even HAVE a bill? Exactly what were the Reps voting on then? We all can read what they voted on but are now being told by the highest office holder in the country that there really IS no bill. So, again, I ask: what did they vote on? I have read it (the house of reps version) & it certainly reads like a bill, has a number like a bill, was introduced as legislation, & yes, VOTED on in the House of Representatives. They approved THAT bill. So, again, why does bho think there is no bill?
- If Medicare & Medicaid have $500 Million every year in false claims, why hasn't that been corrected? It has been known forever. Yet, many of the same ones are in congress - so why, after all their meetings & investigations, etc., - why haven't they fixed the problems? Could it be because they do not know the first thing about how businesses should run because they do not have any real world experience?
- Terrorists captured in enemy combat situations are to be Mirandized. Why? Gitmo detainees are going to be moved into the U.S. Why? They will be given taxpayer-funded lawyers & all rights of American citizens. Why? When has ANY country given our soldiers the same kind of treatment? What can the administration people be thinking? Playing to the ultra-liberals with this card will only serve to alienate more 'ordinary' Americans. You know - those bothersome voters that were handy in November but now are useless unless they go along with whatever the administration wants.
- After making backroom deals with the AARP, pharmaceutical companies, & AMA (doctors) to not take away any more than they have already agreed to 'give up', these groups in concert with George Soros (in this case call him the 5 Million Dollar Man), plan to flood commercials into our homes praising the 'Obama' plan. Basically, it is 'the taxpayer be damned, we're going to be ok' as the philosophy of the entities.
- Rich people typically did not get that way by being stupid or gullible. Therefore, they are doing everything they can to move their companies, plants, & (of course) money out of the purvue of bho & cohorts. There is only so much you can slam them before they simply say 'enough is enough'. Workers can be had cheaper in other countries. Plants can be built with help from governments of other countries because it will be THEIR citizens who benefit from the jobs. Materials will be acquired & life will go on. But, American citizens will still be out of work with little hope of finding a job of any kind.
- There was a firm promise that NO ONE MAKING UNDER $250,000 would see their taxes raised. I guess letting the tax cuts expire doesn't count. Now, finding that the country simply cannot sustain the spending of this prez & congress, taxes will have to be raised on just about everyone. They were going up anyway because of the cuts expiring, but now the double whammy will be to add to that. I believe they will.
- I am disgusted Bush signed the TARP bill. I was against it from the beginning. Now tho, bho is trying to push all the blame off on Bush when the deficit comes up. What? Are you kidding? bho & congress are spending money that can maybe never be repaid. What Bush did was wrong (IMHO) but to justify his own actions, bho points to that even tho the first bailout he signed was "only" 800 BILLION dollars. Since then, there has been more & more until we are now in the hole for over 1.4 TRILLION. FYI bho - when you are in a hole, STOP DIGGING! Now he is talking about a 2nd bailout. As far as I am concerned, it would be number 3 for bailouts: 1 Bush, 2 bho, 3 bho.
- Fair warning so you cannot say you were not warned: people are fed up with the spending. As bho & his cohorts jet around the country, around the world, all the while telling us little peons to conserve, cut back, etc., should another bailout be shoved thru, the anger people feel about government taking over the health care industry would pale in comparison to the anger expressed with another spending bill. Even doing it in the dead of night will not make it smoother. It will be the final straw & I believe there will be many many Recall Petitions that begin & will go thru. Many now in congress will find themselves out in the cold. The new group will be watched like ants under a magnifying glass.

tuning in, dropping out.....
Personally, I'm ok. Frustrated with an already overburdened healthcare system here in El Paso, TX & knowing that if it is this bad now, it will only be a disaster once the Feds get their hands deep into this. I hope, I pray, I talk, I write, I blog -- is it doing any good? For me personally -- yes. So, I will continue to blog.
At least until the feds try to take over the internet.
Why - and someone needs to explain this to me as tho I am in kindergarten - newspapers, running in the red, are up for bailouts by our prez & his minions PLUS allowing them to be non-profit????? Oh, sure, they will continue to publish news - just less news that is true or valid or represents the actual FACTS. I have noticed the newspapers are more & more unashamedly shamming for the prez, the democrats, & slamming anyone who dares to even question something being considered, done, passed, in Washington DC that will affect many Americans. It's only going to be worse if they are allowed to have taxpayer money to play with as well as never paying any taxes.
I guess the "rich" will just have to make up the difference for that business bailout also.
So, let's look at reality: bailing out BANKS, Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, AIG, CAR COMPANIES, & others; that is one side. On the other side, we have huge taxes coming on "the rich" which will encompass anyone/any business making $250,000 + per year. Can anyone explain how any small business can afford to STAY in business because this taxing is not on the NET, it is on the GROSS income of individuals & businesses. I understand this because I used to be a small business owner & would have been subject to this trend of our prez & cohorts.
Basically tho -- no matter how many times you shake it, there will not be enough money in the banks of "the rich" to pay for everything that has been passed. AND why should they? Fair is fair. They take the risks, they should take the rewards. I do not begrudge anyone who puts themselves, their families, their very existence on the line to create a business.
So, why is the prez the leader of the 'create a bigger divide' screaming? HE is a multi-millionaire. So where does he get off condemning those who make/save money? The same story goes for politicians. While they may go into office as 'ordinary' people - & they remind of us of this every election cycle - after as little as one term in office, they too are millionaires. Don't believe me, check it out. Too sadly true.

reminders......
Here are a few FACTS you need to keep in mind if these tax cuts expire:
- $1,480: The average cost in 2000 for couples punished by the Marriage Penalty
- $1,716: The average tax increase for over 100 million Americans
- $2,034: The average tax increase that will hit 17 million seniors
- $3,637: The tax hike, on average, that 26 million small business owners will be facing
- $8.3 Million: The number of jobs created after the tax cuts of 2003
- 44 Million: The number of married couples affected by the Marriage Penalty before it was reduced by Pres. Bush. These families will be hit hard once again if the Marriage Penalty is reinstated
- $17.2 Billion: The amount spent in 2008 by Congress on frivolous "pork" projects that use taxpayer funds to reward local special interests & pressure groups
- $91 Billion: The cost of reinstating the Death Tax
- $2.4 Trillion: The overall tax increase faced by American families, seniors, & businesses
Around & around & around & around the politics goes.....where it stops.....nobody knows.....
Be sure to get a clear answer from your congressional reps on the expiration of tax cuts & how will THAT raise your taxes AND while you are at it, ask about raising taxes for every American to pay the bills they have run up in just the past 6 months.
And altho the congress does NOT understand this, let me again try to make it clear:
- this is not a 'race' issue
- this is not a 'political party' issue
- this is not a 'class' issue
- this is not a 'wage' issue
- this is not an 'area of the country' issue
- this is not a 'religious' issue
- this is not an 'organized _______' issue (fill in any of the names questioners are being called; fill in any of the ugly, nasty, rude & tacky labels Democrats are assigning to those showing up at meetings just to ask questions. I mean, really, who do we think we are? Your bosses or something? That you work for us? Perish the thought.)

drill baby drill.......in BRAZIL?
UNITED STATES TAXPAYERS are 'loaning' 2 BILLION DOLLARS to the world's 7th largest OIL COMPANY -- which makes billions of dollars of profit -- to drill offshore of BRAZIL. Democrats who explain this are saying it is 'helping someone who is a FRIEND' (Brazil).
We are 'loaning' 2 BILLION taxpayer dollars to a company - the 7th largest company in oil -- who has just signed a deal to provide an oil increase to ............CHINA. There is, of course, no deal to sell to the U.S. Why would there be?
Let's see....it is NOT okay to drill offshore of the United States. It is NOT okay to provide jobs for American citizens by exploring not only for oil, but by building efficient refineries, exploring new ways to get to oil in our own country.
The oil in America would end any 'hold' the countries in the Middle East now have on us. We could quit sending billions of dollar to them. We could tell the President to support the only the ones who support the U.S. (e.g. Israel).
So, can someone explain it to me as though I am in kindergarten? Because none of the explanations coming from Washington, D.C. are making any sense whatsoever.

Simple questions.....
So, why do Senators & Representatives think it is perfectly acceptable to constituents to NOT read something as important, as critical, as a BILL THAT IS MAKING OR CHANGING LAWS??? Some in Washington have even found this demand a source of amusement to them reasoning they are so darn busy they would never get anything done if they had to actually READ what they are voting (signing off) on. Maybe this is our best indication Washington is doing a lot of make-work, a lot of pork barrel spending, writing of ridiculous &/or unnecessary bills while pretending they actually give a damn about the voters.
You write a check & are asked for a PHOTO I.D. Often, when you make a purchase using a credit card, you are asked for a PHOTO I.D. When a policeman stops you, he asks for a PHOTO I.D., registration for the vehicle & valid insurance information. When you apply for a Passport, you must have a valid PHOTO I.D. When you check bags at the airport you must provide a valid PHOTO I.D. When you board a plane, you must have a valid PHOTO I.D. When you make a bank deposit that requests cash back you must have a valid PHOTO I.D.
These are ordinary events in a person's life.
So, since we have the extraordinary PRIVILEGE of being able to VOTE in our democracy, why would ANYONE object to providing a valid PHOTO I.D. in order to ensure their vote is not only VALID, but they are the true & actual person they represent themselves to be?
It will not affect or disenfranchise the poor voter, the elderly voter, or the brand new voter. This argument is the last, LEAST valid, of any to not enact this measure. Photo I.D. will only protect each vote from fraud & ensure the validity, the honesty of the voting booth.
Only someone who truly wants to allow cheating in elections would ever argue against this.
So tell me: why, other than supporting cheating in elections, would anyone object to presenting a valid PHOTO I.D. when it comes to such a serious honor: the privilege to vote?
(If you support cheating at the voting booth, does this mean YOU cheat? Are you fine with your family, children, & friends cheating? Does it mean you do not mind being cheated? I'm guessing if someone cheats you, you go ballistic! The same ol' song: do as I say, not as I do. Geez, that is the same song most politicians live.)

Where is Reyes? MIA again?
Reyes' answer to NOT having to meet with the public at large is to tell constituents to "call his office", "make an appointment", etc. Well, did HE make an appointment with you when he was begging for votes? Did he personally call you, was it a pre-recorded call or one from a campaign worker? He is only adding more insults to intelligent people. Can you are now see the false results created by voting a straight Republican or straight Democrat ticket?
I believe he owes an apology to the district he is supposed to represent. I believe he owes it to his district to actually meet face to face as many times, as often, as requested. HE WORKS FOR THE PEOPLE IN HIS DISTRICT. HE NEEDS TO LISTEN & VOTE THE MAJORITY WILL. Now, do I think this will happen? NO. Here's why: he was just re-elected. So, his belief (& if past history is any clue) that the voters have a short-term memory may be justified. Unless there is someone running against him who can remind all the voters of his foibles, votes that his district did not support, etc. - unless the opposition is VERY strong in pointing out his ignoring people when it was the MOST important, he will very likely be in office after the next election. Also, it will take people of the district actually THINKING about their votes rather than checking off "straight republican" or "straight democrat". Are you the voter who chose a "straight ??????" option in your voting? If so, please let me know:
- Were you in a hurry?
- Why did you vote?
- Did you study the candidates for each position?
- Did you take the easy way out?
- Did you honestly not care who was elected?
- Are you so much in a 'party' line that you do not take each candidate for each position seriously?
- Do you now feel well-represented in Washington, D.C.?
- Do you feel your senator, rep, etc. actually listens to you?
- Do you trust what your political representatives say?

Dumbness on the First Day
Andrew Roth
Over 400 bills were proposed by congressional members on the first day of business yesterday. Jim Harper offers up some of his "favorites". Here are ones that stuck out in my mind:
Rep. Jose Serrano (D-NY), an obvious Obama fan, is proposing (H.J.Res. 5) "an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.
Rep. Brian Baird (D-WA) is proposing a bill (HR 14), "To provide for ocean acidification research and monitoring, and for other purposes." I love the opaqueness of the often used tag line: "for other purposes."
Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX) is proposing a bill (HR 73), "To provide for the collection of data on traffic stops."
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is proposing (S. 38) "A bill to establish a United States Boxing Commission to administer the Act, and for other purposes." This chestnut is an long time favorite for McCain. The sport of boxing apparently is so out of control that it needs to be reigned in by the federal government.
Who were the most prolific bill writers? In the House:
Elton Gallegly (R-CA): 19 bills
Jose Serrano (D-NY): 16 bills
Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX): 15 bills
In the Senate:
David Vitter (R-LA): 34 bills
Dianne Feinstein (D-CA): 24 bills
Dan Inouye (D-HI): 23 bills
Now, not all proposals are big government spending plans. Rep. John Linder (R-GA) has re-introduced his favorite bill (HR 25) - to abolish the IRS and implement the Fair Tax. And Rep. John Campbell (R-CA) offered up a couple of gems. He wants to abolish the Appropriations Committee (H.Res. 17) and he wants to allow people who want higher taxes to be able to voluntarily send the federal government some of their extra money on their tax returns (HR 87).

The hardest part is that I am none of these 'labels' but somehow, by using words like this certain ones in the bho administration & congress can feel better about themselves by 'labeling' me. So, feel free. I know who I am. I know what I believe in. I know what I stand for. I am not ashamed of who I am & do, in fact, like myself. I am comfortable in my own skin. If it makes YOU feel more in control to assign negative, nasty, evil words to me then be my guest.
Just keep in mind: at some point, you too, no matter how hard you try to avoid it, will eventually be labeled with many of the same words; no matter how liberal or liberated you believe you are, you will become a target.
These words, by the way, do not diminish me. They do inspire me that I am on the right path - questioning what the government is doing & why. If this makes bho nervous, he should be. He has broken every promise he made to the American people at large. I phrase it as such because he had no qualms about signing an executive order within a few days of taking office, restoring abortions in Mexico & other countries paid for by the American taxpayer. As vote after vote has shown, the support for abortion-on-demand is NOT in favor with Americans, yet he crammed it down our throats by taking money out of OUR government to give to other countries to accomplish his goals for a small portion in favor of abortion-on-demand.
I have 3 children. I have 11 nieces & nephews. My oldest nephew & his wife just brought a beautiful little girl into this world. While I am thrilled for them (I love being a parent), I am also terrified about the re-making of this country that bho & cohorts are trying. They are hell-bent on destroying capitalism & making everyone except their 'elite' friends/supporters live in a 'socialist' society.
Only by educating ourselves, THOROUGHLY educating ourselves, can we hope to prove that the bill the house of reps passed was flawed beyond belief. I HAVE read the bill. Unlike my senators & reps (Wisconsin or Texas), I know what is in there.
Whether they like it or not, whether they continue to try to find ways to put me down or shut me up, I know what is in there. It is not good for America. It will kill insurance company choices. It will NOT cover those 43million uninsured that bho keeps talking about. The cost is prohibitive. American taxpayers cannot now take on other peoples' mortgages, taxes, car payments, loan payments, AND now, health care. There just is not enough money. Even 'rich people' have limits.
So, snitch away on me. I DON'T CARE. I will continue to question, argue, fuss, protest lack of representation, & generally be a pain in the butt of congress until they start listening to, AND RESPONDING TO, the average American person.
BTW - I am so proud of Katy Abram & her husband, Sam. They represent what is RIGHT with America. If YOU do not know who she is, check youtube for the video of her trying to get her own representative, arlen specter, to listen to, actually hear, & understand her concerns. His answer leaves so much to be desired it is sad. Typical politician in power far past his 'due date'.
Confusion.....
End-of-life counseling is mandatory in the house of reps bill passed. In fact, there is a provision for doctors to be paid more when they accomplish this. It will be done on a yearly (or more frequent if needed) basis if the patient is terminally ill or has an incurable condition. So, euthanasia is good (per liberals & Oregonians).
The Death Penalty, reserved for the most heinous criminals, is bad (per liberals & the MSM).
Can someone please explain this to me? Because I just do not get it.

Time to stop......
Also, to be clear: I am NOT a homophobe, racist, klan member, right-wing anything, antisemitic, anti-immigration, mean, or rude.
I AM in favor of people having a job rather than a government handout. I AM in favor of LEGAL immigration. I believe the Founding Fathers knew what they were saying in the Constitution & it should be taken at face value, rather than 'interpreted according to the laws of other countries'. I have nothing against another race or religion as a whole.
I do NOT agree with, nor believe in, or support, the Obama agendas -- in any area. His idea of the government taking over businesses is absurd - government is inefficient & ineffective already. He is THE most devisive president in the history of the United States.
When I received the following email, I had to think about it for a while. There are many valid points being made & it would behoove every person, liberal or conservative, to think this through.
Here is the email:
I don't know the author, but I see the dark and foreboding truth in this brilliant parable.~~
"Dinner with Obama"
Once upon a time, I was invited to the White House for a private dinner with the President. I am a respected businessman, with a factory that produces memory chips for computers and portable electronics.
There was some talk that my industry was being scrutinized by the administration, but I paid it no mind. I live in a free country. There's nothing that the government can do to me if I've broken no laws. My wealth was earned honestly, and an invitation to dinner with an American President is an honor.
I checked my coat, was greeted by the Chief of Staff, and joined the President in a yellow dining room. We sat across from each other at a table draped in white linen. The Great Seal was embossed on the china. Uniformed staff served our dinner.
The meal was served, and I was startled when my waiter suddenly reached out, plucked a dinner roll off my plate, and began nibbling it as he walked back to the kitchen. "Sorry about that," said the President. "Andrew is very hungry." "I don't appreciate..." I began, but as I looked into the calm brown eyes across from me, I felt immediately guilty and petty.. It was just a dinner roll. "Of course," I concluded, and reached for my glass.
Before I could, however, another waiter reached forward, took the glass away and swallowed the wine in a single gulp. "His brother Eric is very thirsty", said the President. I didn't say anything. The President is testing my compassion, I thought. I will play along. I don't want to seem unkind.
My plate was whisked away before I had tasted a bite. "Eric's children are also quite hungry." With a lurch, I crashed to the floor. My chair had been pulled out from under me. I stood,brushing myself off angrily, and watched as it was carried from the room. "And their Grandmother can't stand for long." I excused myself, smiling outwardly, but inside feeling like a fool.
Obviously I had been invited to the White House to be sport for some game. I reached for my coat, to find that it had been taken. I turned back to the President. "Their grandfather doesn't like the cold." I wanted to shout - that was my coat! But again, I looked at the placid smiling face of my host and decided I was being a poor sport. I spread my hands helplessly and chuckled.
Then I felt my hip pocket and realized my wallet was gone. I excused myself and walked to a phone on an elegant side table. I learned shortly that my credit cards had been maxed out, my bank accounts emptied, my retirement and equity portfolios had vanished, and my wife had been thrown out of our home. Apparently, the waiters and their families were moving in.
The President hadn't moved or spoken as I learned all this, but finally I lowered the phone into its cradle and turned to face him. "Andrew's whole family has made bad financial decisions. They haven't planned for retirement, and they need a house. They recently defaulted on a sub prime mortgage. I told them they could have your home. They need it more than you do."
My hands were shaking. I felt faint. I stumbled back to the table and knelt on the floor. The President cheerfully cut his meat, ate his steak and drank his wine. I lowered my eyes and stared at the small grey circles on the tablecloth that were water drops. "By the way," He added, "I have just signed an Executive Order nationalizing your factories. I'm firing you as head of your business. I'll be operating the firm now for the benefit of all mankind. There's a whole bunch of Erics and Andrews out there and they can't come to you for jobs groveling like beggars." I looked up. The President dropped his spoon into the empty ramekin which had been his creme brulee. He drained the last drops of his wine.
As the table was cleared, he lit a cigarette and leaned back in his chair. He stared at me. I clung to the edge of the table as if were a ledge and I were a man hanging over an abyss. I thought of the years behind me, of the life I had lived. The life I had earned with a lifetime of work, risk and struggle. Why was I punished? How had I allowed it to be taken? What game had I played and lost? I looked across the table and noticed with some surprise that there was no game board between us. What had I done wrong?
"You should have stopped me at the dinner roll," he said.
Wake up America!
-----------
I believe we are at the 'dinner roll' stage. Now is the time to tell those in Washington, D.C. that THEY WORK FOR US. We do NOT work for them. THEY WORK FOR US. It is time to make our voices heard.
If you do not speak up now, when will you? If you do not speak up to help correct what is wrong, who will be left to speak on your behalf?

this is the answer from the prez & his supporters?
HOW DARE YOU?
A reminder: this is America. WE, THE PEOPLE, are not going to simply lie down & take whatever you & your elitist buddies deem to dish out to us peons. Therefore, you started this garbage & you can put a halt to it; IF you have the courage - which I doubt.
Am I angry? Absolutely! Will you & your union thugs cause me to re-think my positions or my questions? Absolutely NOT!
Because of what is happening in many areas with union thugs attacking people who only want access to ask questions of THEIR representatives from congress, you are strengthening the resolve of ALL of those who have questions & issues with your policies/politics/positions.
- I will continue to attend any townhall meeting available.
- I will continue to attend any/all TEA Party events.
- I will make it my mission to alert as many as possible to the tactics you encourage from your supporters, as despicable as they are.
- I am now more angry than ever.
For anyone still basking in ignorance, please go to www.michellemalkin.com to check out the video links available there to show you just what your president is advocating from his union thugs. If you are not disgusted by what you will see, you are in more denial than can ever be corrected by addressing you with just the facts. So, if this is the case, go to a TEA Party event, just to see what is going on, & make up your own mind.

on the new health "care" plan...
Written by Dr. Dave Janda
Thursday, 23 July 2009
As a physician who has authored books on preventative health care, I was given the opportunity to be the keynote speaker at a Congressional Dinner at The Capitol Building in Washington last Friday (7/17).
The presentation was entitled Health Care Reform, The Power & Profit of Prevention, and I was gratified that it was well received.
In preparation for the presentation, I read the latest version of "reform" as authored by The Obama Administration and supported by Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid. Here is the link to the 1,018 page document:
http://edlabor.house.gov/documents/111/pdf/publications/AAHCA-BillText-071409.pdf
Let me summarize just a few salient points of the above plan. First, however, it should be clear that the same warning notice must be placed on The ObamaCare Plan as on a pack of cigarettes: Consuming this product will be hazardous to your health.
The underlying method of cutting costs throughout the plan is based on rationing and denying care. There is no focus on preventing health care need whatever. The plan's method is the most inhumane and unethical approach to cutting costs I can imagine as a physician.
The rationing of care is implemented through The National Health Care Board, according to the plan. This illustrious Board "will approve or reject treatment for patients based on the cost per treatment divided by the number of years the patient will benefit from the treatment."
Translation.....if you are over 65 or have been recently diagnosed as having an advanced form of cardiac disease or aggressive cancer.....dream on if you think you will get treated.....pick out your coffin.
Oh, you say this could never happen? Sorry.... this is the same model they use in Britain.
The plan mandates that there will be little or no advanced treatments to be available in the future. It creates The Federal Coordinating Council For Comparative Effectiveness Research, the purpose of which is "to slow the development of new medications and technologies in order to reduce costs." Yes, this is to be the law.
The plan also outlines that doctors and hospitals will be overseen and reviewed by The National Coordinator For Health Information and Technology.
This " coordinator" will "monitor treatments being delivered to make sure doctors and hospitals are strictly following government guidelines that are deemed appropriate." It goes on to say....."Doctors and hospitals not adhering to guidelines will face penalties."
According to those in Congress, penalties could include large six figure financial fines and possible imprisonment.
So according to The ObamaCare Plan....if your doctor saves your life you might have to go to the prison to see your doctor for follow -up appointments. I believe this is the same model Stalin used in the former Soviet Union.
Section 102 has the Orwellian title, "Protecting the Choice to Keep Current Coverage." What this section really mandates is that it is illegal to keep your private insurance if your status changes - e.g., if you lose or change your job, retire from your job and become a senior, graduate from college and get your first job. Yes, illegal.
When Mr. Obama hosted a conference call with bloggers
He asked: "Is this true? Will people be able to keep their insurance and will insurers be able to write new policies even though H.R. 3200 is passed?" Mr. Obama replied: "You know, I have to say that I am not familiar with the provision you are talking about."
Then there is Section 1233 of The ObamaCare Plan, devoted to "Advanced Care Planning." After each American turns 65 years of age they have to go to a mandated counseling program that is designed to end life sooner.
This session is to occur every 5 years unless the person has developed a chronic illness then it must be done every year. The topics in this session will include, "how to decline hydration, nutrition and how to initiate hospice care." It is no wonder The Obama Administration does not like my emphasis on Prevention. For Mr. Obama, prevention is the "enemy" as people would live longer.
I rest my case. The ObamaCare Plan is hazardous to the health of every American.
After I finished my Capitol Hill presentation, I was asked by a Congressman in the question-answer session: "I'll be doing a number of network interviews on the Obama Health Care Plan. If I am asked what is the one word to describe the plan what should I answer."
The answer is simple, honest, direct, analytical, sad but truthful. I told him that one word is FASCIST.
Then I added, "I hope you'll have the courage to use that word, Congressman. No other word is more appropriate."

P.S.
I would like to know the following:
- where do you get the authority to simply take over entire businesses?
- why are you appointing so many 'czars'?
- who do the 'czars' answer to?
- what are each of the 'czars' paid?
- do the 'czars' receive bonuses?
- what budget does each 'czar' have?
- what exactly is the duty of each 'czar'?
- how many people work for each 'czar'?
- what are the duties of the people who work for each 'czar'?
- as you are so anxious to take away the right to a secret ballot when voting on unions, are you also wanting to take away the public's right to a secret ballot?
- you have called ordinary American citizens who question you & your cohorts "angry mobs" & "organized mobs". Why are ordinary citizens who show up at rallies "angry mobs" when you, yourself, organized ACORN protests, are calling on unions to show up at rallies with their people, & supporting your cohorts in calling names rather than answering questions?
- why are you so afraid of "ordinary" American citizens?
- why won't you answer any questions truthfully? i.e. - you lied about your support for the 2nd Amendment Rights of Citizens to Keep & Bear Arms....
- will you now dodge the above by saying it is "all Eric Holder's doing"?
- you said "Washington is broken" so why does your staff consist of tax cheats, liars & lobbyists?
- when told EMPHATICALLY that citizens, taxpayers, voters, did not want the bailouts - why did you & your cohorts push them through?
- when told EMPHATICALLY that citizens, taxpayers, voters, do not want the healthcare system changed your way, why are you continuing to push it?
- when told EMPHATICALLY that citizens, taxpayers, voters, do not want 'cap & trade', why do you & your cohorts continue to try to shove it down our throats?
- why do you apologize to other countries for America?
- why do you bow down to a king of another country?
- why do you listen to communist dictators but not to the 'ordinary' citizens in America?
- why do you treat our oldest, best allies in the world with total disdain?
- why are you supprised that "ordinary" Americans are speaking out, showing up to voice their complete disgust with you, with the senate, with the house of representatives?
- why are you, with your elitist attitude, so disdainful of "ordinary" citizens?
- why do you insist that taxpayers now cover mortgages, schooling, & health care for those who are in our country illegally?
- why do you insist that hard-working Americans now suffer in the name of your liberalism?
- why are you surprised that many of those who voted for you are now disgusted by you, your appointments, & most especially, by your actions?
- why are you so immature that you must call people names, who oppose you or even simply question your policies?
- why do you reject that citizens of America are not willing to bow down & simply accept whatever YOU deem feasible to hand out to them?
- why are you so adamant about creating racial divides when & where none exists?
- why do you involve yourself in areas that are, quite frankly, none of your business (i.e. Gates/Crowley situation) & for which you do not have all the information?
- why do you try to again, using the Gates situation, try to label everyone who is not black or latino, a racist such as you?
- why do you deny saying things & then are angry people remember & PROVE what you said?
- why do you label everyone who is white a racist?
- why do you believe, even though it is not working so well now, that dividing the peoples of this nation according to your labels will work to your benefit?
- why do you condemn 'rich people' when you, in fact, are a multi-millionaire?
- why do you preach hate, anger, & fear all the while trying to pretend you are not?
- why do you think you know what is better for hardworking Americans than we know for ourselves?
- why do you lie over & over & over - especially when FACTS prove you are lying?
- why do you dismiss those who are angry with your proposed policies when they have FACTS to show your policies are wrong & harmful to our country?
- why are you ignoring reality?
- IF YOU HATE AMERICA, AMERICANS, & THE SUCCESS OF THIS COUNTRY, SO MUCH, WHY DON'T YOU JUST LEAVE?
YOU, OBAMA, ARE A DISGRACE TO AMERICA. I have been ashamed of Presidents of this country before (i.e. Nixon, Carter, Clinton), but I have never said the following words until now: you, obama, are not MY President.
OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT
Oh, and feel absolutely free to 'snitch' on me to the White House. I do not mind one bit.
-------------
God Bless America ! We need all the help we can muster.
April 23, 2009
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington , DC 20500
Mr. Obama:
I have had it with you and your administration, sir. Your conduct on your recent trip overseas has convinced me that you are not an adequate representative of the United States of America collectively or of me personally.
You are so obsessed with appeasing the Europeans and the Muslim world that you have abdicated the responsibilities of the President of the United States of America. You are responsible to the citizens of the United States. You are not responsible to the peoples of any other country on earth.
I personally resent that you go around the world apologizing for the United States telling Europeans that we are arrogant and do not care about their status in the world. Sir, what do you think the First World War and the Second World War were all about if not the consideration of the peoples of Europe ? Are you brain dead? What do you think the Marshall Plan was all about? Do you not understand or know the history of the 20th century?
Where do you get off telling a Muslim country that the United States does not consider itself a Christian country? Have you not read the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution of the United States? This country was founded on Judeo-Christian ethics and the principles governing this country, at least until you came along, come directly from this heritage. Do you not understand this?
Your bowing to the king of Saudi Arabia is an affront to all Americans. Our President does not bow down to anyone, let alone the king of Saudi Arabia . You don't show Great Britain , our best and one of our oldest allies, the respect they deserve yet you bow down to the king of Saudi Arabia . How dare you, sir! How dare you!
You can't find the time to visit the graves of our greatest generation because you don't want to offend the Germans but make time to visit a mosque in Turkey . You offended our dead and every veteran when you give the Germans more respect than the people who saved the German people from themselves. What's the matter with you?
I am convinced that you and the members of your administration have the historical and intellectual depth of a mud puddle and should be ashamed of yourselves, all of you.
You are so self-righteously offended by the big bankers and the American automobile manufacturers yet do nothing about the real thieves in this situation, Mr. Dodd, Mr. Frank, Franklin Raines, Jamie Gorelic, the Fannie Mae bonuses, and the Freddie Mac bonuses. What do you intend to do about them? Anything? I seriously doubt it.
What about the U.S. House members passing out $9.1 million in bonuses to their staff members - on top of the $2.5 million in automatic pay raises that lawmakers gave themselves? I understand the average House aide got a 17% bonus. I took a 5% cut in my pay to save jobs with my employer. You haven't said anything about that. Who authorized that? I surely didn't!
Executives at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will be receiving $210 million in bonuses over an eighteen-month period, that's $45 million more than the AIG bonuses. In fact, Fannie and Freddie executives have already been awarded $51 million - not a bad take. Who authorized that and why haven't you expressed your outrage at this group who are largely responsible for the economic mess we have right now?
I resent that you take me and my fellow citizens as brain-dead and not caring about what you idiots do. We are watching what you are doing and we are getting increasingly fed up with all of you. I also want you to know that I personally find just about everything you do and say to be offensive to every one of my sensibilities. I promise you that I will work tirelessly to see that you do not get a chance to spend two terms destroying my beautiful country.
Sincerely,
Every real American
---------------------------
I cannot think of any reason why you would support this prez - unless of course, you hate America.
If this is the case, then make it easy on yourself & all the rest of us & exercise another freedom paid for in blood: LEAVE.

Cash for clunkers and more
- people are putting off purchasing necessary items (i.e. clothes washer, dryer, refrigerator, etc.) because "hey, the GOVERNMENT is giving us money to buy a new car now. The money was yours to begin with -- it is TAX monies collected & now being redistributed to only those foolish enough to rush out to buy a new vehicle. Plus, now you have a car payment!
- This is getting 'clunkers' & 'gas guzzlers' off the streets. Not really -- only those whose credit can stand this extra payment are able to take advantage of this. Their car may actually only be from 2002 & have low miles. It would have been a good buy for someone graduating from college & needing to buy a car but not able to afford a 'new car' payment or for a family who truly needed another car but again, cannot afford a 'new car'. So, where does that leave them?
- The program is (shock coming) way behind in processing requests for the 'rebate'. Another government program, staffed by government workers, behind in their work -- who would have ever guessed this would happen? (this is sarcasm!)
- The very same people who 'planned' the 1 BILLION dollars would last 4 months were incredibly wrong....it lasted approximately 4 days. Now they have committed 2 BILLION MORE of your tax dollars to this 'program'. Thus, my next question is this: if they are so damn wrong about something as simply as this program is 'supposed' to be, what kind of massive mess will they make if they get their fingers on our healthcare? The plan already includes gutting Medicare & not only does that scare ME, it should scare every single American when you understand you are TURNING OVER YOUR HEALTH CARE TO THE GOVERNMENT if their plans go through.
- Car dealers, formerly struggling, now have a short-term gain, but what happens to their sales in a year? 2 years? how many people will they be laying off because there is no longer some incentive from the government to buy a new car? I imagine your wait to have repairs will become longer because of them employing fewer people. Plus, the laid off workers will file for unemployment & public aid, etc. So where is the gain?
- These types of 'saving the people from themselves' programs were started back during the Great Depression. They did NOT work then, will NOT work now. It is time to leave people alone & let the economy recover without any more government intervention. In fact, history has shown that what was done in the name of 'government help' during the Great Depression actually LENGTHENED the Depression. The point of history is to LEARN from our mistakes. Obviously, we are not going in the right direction.
- Any time the economy takes a 'downturn', there will be pain felt by someone somewhere; we need to go through that pain to come out the other side stronger & more resilient. Having a 'nanny state' will not only NOT take away the pain of the 'downturn', it WILL prolong it. I don't know about you, but I am not in the mood for extending financial pain by government intervention.
WE, THE PEOPLE, ARE NOT STUPID.
Lots of people were fooled. Lots of people fell for the 'hopey, changey' thing bho promised & promoted. He, of course, lied through his teeth. I am surprised lightening did not strike him somewhere along the campaign trail. But, he said what people WANTED to hear: Xanadu was waiting just over the hill if only he were elected. He has blamed everything he does wrong on the former president, taken credit for things the former president actually DID put in place, & screwed up the rest with his meddling in banks & car companies.
He was elected. Now we see that he & his party want control of not only banks & car companies, now it's insurance companies & healthcare. In fact, what will be left if they get their hands into ALL the free markets? The man has already said that we are no longer a Christian nation. So, what are we? He seems to have stopped short of explaining that one.
- It is TIME.
- Call your representatives.
- Repeatedly.
- Make it a daily ritual.
- Object to the takeover, IN ANY FORM, of the nation's healthcare.
- Adamantly object to them voting ANOTHER bailout. It is not #2, it would be #3 - Bush signed off on the first one if you remember.
- Register & vote the representatives/congressmen/senators OUT.
- Vote for anyone besides the entrenched party/politico.
- Go to TEA parties. It stands for Taxed Enough Already, in case you haven't heard.
- Volunteer to help your local TEA Party. Don't have one? Then start one.
- Above all, remember everything in our nation USED to be based on WE, THE PEOPLE.
You can help return to this precept. Tell your reps how you feel & let them know that they are being watched. Voting in regular elections is NOT optional.
And, if all else fails, remember that we DO have the ability to RECALL a rep who does not represent us.

Good vs. Evil
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said, "My son, the battle is between two 'wolves' inside us all.
One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf wins?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

2nd Amendment Rights?
This is an email I received lately....I thought I would pass it along so you could check it out for yourself.
When I voted, there were already over 3.2 MILLION votes.
97% believe the 2nd Amendment gives individuals the right to keep & bear arms.
2% do not believe that.
1% are unsure.
3.2 MILLION....I wonder if anyone in Washington D.C. is able to translate this "concept" or if they are even able to read english. That remains to be seen. All I can say is this: the politicians had better start listening to the people....the politicians work for US, not the other way around - which is how they are all acting right now. After voting, feel free to comment here & tell how many voters have clicked in as well as how the percentages are shaking out.
email:
Obama's new Attorney General, Eric Holder, has already said this is one of his major issues.This takes literally 2 clicks to complete. Please vote on this gun issue question with USA Today. It will only take a few seconds of your time.. Then pass the link on to all the folks you know. Hopefully these results will be published later this month. This upcoming year will become critical for gun owners with the Supreme Court accepting the District of Columbia case against the right for individuals to bear arms.
Here's what you need to do:
First - vote on this one.
Second - launch it to other folks and have THEM vote - then we will see if the results get published.
The Question is:
"Does the Second Amendment give individuals the right to bear arms?"

My head has been spinning.....
Sorry to have taken such a long break....I honestly needed it. I was on overload. Now, I am still on overload, but I think I am getting a better handle on dealing with it.
Several things, most of which I will comment on to a greater extent soon, are buzzing around in my head. BIG SURPRISE COMING (this would be called a 'spoiler' if I were talking about a movie) - the bailouts are NOT, I repeat NOT working. If there is anyone in America who is surprised by this revelation, you need serious therapy. And soon. Now there is talk of a 'SECOND bailout'. Excuse me because I do not have a college degree, but there was a bailout passed in the fall - HAD to be done - while Prez Bush was still in office. THAT IS ONE. Then Prez Obama is elected & another bailout passed. THAT IS TWO. So what is all the talk about a 2nd bailout when, in actuality (& reality), it would be the THIRD BAILOUT. Can someone explain how this works? The 1st one did nothing, the 2nd one did even less (unless you count signmakers business improving to put up signs to tell you how well the 'bailout' projects are working on highways throughout our nation - especially since the $ for that work was already headed there before bho even thought about making signs). Now, the Prez wants to return to the well which, by the way, is bone-dry, for ANOTHER bailout.
The bailouts were not predicted to work. The 'transparency' is more opaque now than it was when Bush & Clinton were in office. So, realistically, what have we gained? A huge debt that has no hope of being repaid. Union officials are happy because they are sitting pretty. An entire car manufacturing company - GM - is now truly 'government motors' & no one has said they will be looking to buy no matter how good the deals look. So, it seems the answer to that is to punish car companies that did not need, or did not take, bailouts & become part & parcel of the government.
Now we are faced with 'NATIONAL HEALTHCARE'. Oh, excuse me. National Healthcare is no longer the way to label this....NEW LABEL is this: Government Health INSURANCE. This has been spun so many ways by so many people that it makes a cotton candy cone look simple. As a permanently disabled, Medicare-dependent person, I will be the first in line to say this is not only a ridiculous, pathetic idea -- it is very dangerous. Even my doctors are worried that if the cancer returns, under 'obama-care', I will not be allowed treatment. You see, after battling for 10 years, putting my family & friends thru hell with me, I will be told to go home, have 'palliative care' until such time as hospice is needed & that will be the end of it.
I am not stupid - I know my care has been expensive & losing our private insurance was a significant blow. Fighting with Medicare -- they want to deny me support for a g-tube which I have had since Dec. 15th, 1998 because I cannot swallow -- is tough. I jump thru hoops. I send emails. I make phone calls. But once the government got into the mix, the cost of a g-tube went up 500%. YES, you are reading that right. 500%. The simplest explanation is that the gov't does not want to pay for it. So they make it as difficult as possible. I do not blame my supplier - to even break even, they HAVE to bill at the exorbitant rate just to have a chance of getting anything near the actual cost. It will get much worse as this 'Healthcare Insurance' wanders around in Washington D.C. Mark my words. This is the reality. I am supposed to use an enteral feeding supply -- however, to do this, it will cost me approximately $700-$800 per month for my 20% of the Medicare coverage of the other 80%. I cannot afford that. Not now, not ever.
Turning this country into a pale imitation of 1970's Russia is absolutely not the answer. If any politician votes in favor of this travesty, I believe there must be a recall election immediately for that politician. These 'people in power' are still so swayed - Republican & Democrat & ? - by the magician that they are following the Piped Piper, just as the rats did while he merrily played a tune.
It is time for the 'sleeping giant' which encompasses the majority of the United States to awaken & slap these people down. They are supposed to work FOR us, not the other way around.
Last thought this early a.m. - if this healthcare package is so damned great, why are all the politicians EXEMPTING themselves, their own familes AND federal employees from this? It is absolutely true. One set of rules for us peons, one set of rules for those who believe they are above all of us, the elitists who are now in government in a huge way.
This is SUPPOSED to be a government OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE.
You & I are 'the people', just in case you are confused. Set aside all the excuses you have been giving for your particular representative: well he/she has brought jobs in, gotten projects for parks, improved our roads -- whatever your excuse is, it is not good enough to justify keeping them in office as they decimate our country & enrich themselves. How can they be millionaires after ONE term in office yet only bring in a paycheck of less than $200,000? How is this possible? Think about it. You know the answer. And it ain't pretty.
Are YOU going to stand up & say "I've had enough & I'm not gonna take it anymore"? Do you have the courage to do what is right? Do you have the fortitude to be labeled, as I have, a racist, homophobe, anti-immigration, KKK member, slut, ignorant, mean, cold, uncaring? Although I have been called those things & worse, I am still speaking out. Someone has to.
Will it be you? Or will you sit back hoping & praying your world doesn't change & you won't have to get active?
Either way, you must make a choice. The time to sit & wring your hands or change the channel or not listen to what is happening -- that time has long passed you by.

Amnesty (again?!)
DO NOT call me a racist or a bigot or anti-immigrant or prejudiced. I am none of those & have had enough of that ridiculous misdirection!!!!! The magician has left the building......
When running for prez, bho talked about the 20 million here in the U.S. illegally. The jobless number for Americans is now at least 16+ million, with more jobs being cut every day. Will we have double that after amnesty is granted & those without jobs apply for benefits & social services? Where will the money come from to support them? Taxpayers of course. YOU.
Have you ever broken the law? Speeding - eventually you will be caught & ticketed. Drinking & Driving - see the previous answer & add a trip to jail. Now consider breaking into someone's home. Have you done that? Has it been done to you? Did they take things you worked hard to get? Did your insurance costs go up?
Well, it is about to happen to every United States Citizen & LEGAL immigrant; your home has been already been broken into & now come the repair bills plus the criminals will walk free. Whatever taxes you pay, be ready to 'be patriotic' & pay more.
Also, could someone - anyone - tell me when illegals (criminals) had the right to DEMAND their 'rights'? What rights? They protest 'inhumane' U.S. immigration policies -- EXCUSE ME? What country would allow illegals to protest in the streets demanding THEIR rights, what THEY are owed, flying the flag of their (origin) country on a pole ABOVE an upside-down U.S. flag (signal for distress) if it was flown at all? In any other country they would be arrested or worse.
Who decided this was the way to gain sympathy for illegals? What it did was anger ordinary people, the usually silent ones. So at the next rally, having realized those outside of Hollywood were not supportive, country of origin flags were less prominently displayed, they waved little U.S. flags for cameras but then threw them in the street or bushes (personally witnessed this). They still DEMANDED their 'rights'.
Again, I ask - what RIGHTS & from whom are they owed? Another absurd part: students leaving schools, without permission, to march in protests were given extra credit for 'participating in the democratic process'. Those who chose to stay in school got no extra credit. That is discrimination!
Now, right now, congress is preparing to grant amnesty. Forgive all illegals, even gang members if they say they are no longer a gang member. If there are strings, they will be made of the thinnest thread & meaningless. They plan to hand criminal aliens -- they DID break FEDERAL laws, not 'civil' (Napolitano you ignorant biotch) -- a free pass, a get-out-of-jail-free card. There is no incentive, want or need to become part of the 'melting pot' of America, to pledge allegiance to this country.
Some truly ARE wanting to be a full, recognized citizen because they love this country as their own. Some have enlisted in the armed forces prepared to make the sacrifices to protect our nation. I admire them & will support their citizenship. It is the ones who are here to merely 'take' whatever they can get - them I have a problem with. Of course, I despise anyone, citizen or not, who believes they are 'owed' anything simply because they exist. That is the message of the majority of the marchers - I 'owe' them because they are here.
No other country in the world would allow this. If I illegally enter another country or overstay my VISA, I will be found & sent home, if lucky, or to prison. Once my prison sentence is up, I will be deported, usually at my own expense.
Illegals broke the laws of our nation by sneaking into our country or overstaying a VISA. They knowingly broke the law. Now, they will be rewarded. How is this fair?
Immigrants who have been waiting for years for approval to come to our country LEGALLY, are now being sent to the back of the bus. This is discrimination so how is this fair?
Since someone broke the law by coming & staying here illegally, what other laws will they ignore or break? Who will be the 1st lawyer to use the defense "my client was an illegal, now legal, but just didn't understand it was wrong to drink & drive/speed/burglarize/rob/rape/assault/kill/commit a crime in this country."
Those most angry are the actual immigrants who applied, followed the law, waited for permission, & finally came here to legally work & become citizens. They are asking why they had to follow the law. They wonder why they had to wait, why they have to learn English.
Amnesty was granted during Reagan. Now the problem has mushroomed & D.C. is looking to grant amnesty again.
How long before it has to be done again? How many will be given a free pass the next round?
How many more people can YOU support? Get ready....you will be sick when you find out how much more you will have to pay.....

the magic of MIS-DIRECTION continues.....
Guns are - if he has his own way - only to be had for police (in certain areas, under certain circumstances, distributed by certain government agencies ONLY), obama's own version of brown-shirts & his body guards, military only if necessary & that too will be decided by his version of a government watch group.
This is my view right now on him: that MAGICIAN TRAINING is PAYING OFF BIG TIME. It is the magician's oldest & best trick: MIS-DIRECTION.
obama stirs up controversy by a small-time argument such as SCOTUS nominee, then jets around on his second apology tour across the 'big water': both are simple mis-direction.
All the while people are watching HIM with his b.s. back in the U.S., bills are being created, & some passed, that are not even being looked at by Americans yet they will definitely affect how Americans live their lives. MIS-DIRECTION
Unfortunately, he is good at it. AND worse yet, he will have 'deniability' -- geez, I was out of the country, I cannot control congress, I didn't know, etc. etc. etc. All the while, HIS wants are being fulfilled by his little minions in the senate & the house of representatives. MIS-DIRECTION
Don't believe me? Think about this for a while. Think about him having the temerity to lecture Muslims on how they need to feel & think of Israel all the while he is lecturing Israel about how they must give up Jerusalem as well as part of their country (gained in a war or not) because, well, he SAYS so. And some idiot woman delivers the line: Michelle Obama should TALK to Muslim women & they would be different; they would listen to HER because she is such a 'great lady'. MIS-DIRECTION
EXCUSE ME? WHAT? ARE YOU INSANE or JUST ON SOME REALLY REALLY REALLY STRONG PSYCHOTIC DRUGS? What is it, exactly, she has done to deserve such glowing praise? Shown up at a soup-kitchen wearing 400+ dollar tennis shoes, for a photo op. Oh, I forgot. In the midst of all this financial turmoil, most everyday people spend $400 or more on their sneakers. MIS-DIRECTION
With a teleprompter, obama can deliver a speech with the right inflections, the right pauses, the right emphasis on certain passages. Without a teleprompter, he is a mess. The 'ums, ahs, wells, ohs, ummmms' drive me to the point that, as with al bore - excuse me, - al gore, uh, um, well, I , um, well, um ah, cannot stand to watch. It is pathetic. As well as painful to watch. MIS-DIRECTION
Trying to be fair, I actually TRIED to watch al bore's movie & I couldn't get past his ignorant command of the english language. He stutters & stammers & doesn't seem to know what he is about to say, what he has just said, and why he is even talking about any of this stuff. Oh, yeah - the money he is planning to make if he can just get enough people to believe in HIS theory of global warming. These are classic signs - as with obama - of lying. Either by COMMISSION or OMISSION. Which one? Only time will tell. MIS-DIRECTION
Since obama seems to be a darling of the hollyweird crowd, he can go on to be a 'great actor' once his career as POTUS is over. Altho, I a just waiting to see how long it is before pelosi or biden or reid or some other sycophant proposes to get rid of term limits for the POTUS. Just wait, it will happen. MIS-DIRECTION
But someone better start telling the truth. The 'magic show' continues but don't ever say you were not warned. Remember: MIS-DIRECTION

And you are surprised WHY?
Now that there will be no influx of a Brigade into Fort Bliss, El Paso businesses are sweating. Those on the edge were hoping to stay alive with the prospect of newcomers; businesses making it, were hoping to grow & prosper. However, there will be no new growth with military in El Paso. The word 'stagnant' comes to mind here. It saddens me. It worries me because now the city will have to come up with a way to pay for projects they have approved. Schools were gearing up for larger classes, improvements planned for roads, stormwater projects, name it -- they will all have to be re-examined.
My biggest question is this: for every person who bought into 'hope & change' - is THIS the CHANGE you HOPED would happen? You cannot be surprised since the protection of our nation & Military is far down the list of priorities for congress & presidency. Those in place right now, voting on spending $$ on the local or Federal levels, are simply voting to control YOU.
YOU granted CHANGE with votes. How much HOPE do you have now for the future?

El Paso (drama) politics
The big news -- EMBARRASSING news -- was Norma Chavez dissing Melissa Marquez during the celebration of Chavez' graduation from college because according to Chavez, Marquez hasn't shown her "the respect" she deserves after working to get Marquez elected. Excuse me? The voters elected her. YOU did not "get" her elected. While you helped & she has said this many times, you are owed no more special treatment than any other campaign worker. Period. So, Norma -- get over yourself!
like an immature 22 year old, which Norma is NOT, she acted as a child pitching a tantrum under the stress. While Chavez may not appreciate, or even like, Marquez, they BOTH owe El Paso an apology for acting so childish. The text messages were, to say the least, tacky in the extreme -- & to say the most, rude & uncalled for. Chavez should have had the brains & the backbone to actually call Marquez to say this or sort this out. Instead, she acted like a teenager lost in the world of "it's all about me!"
Chavez says....Marquez says....she did....well, SHE did....you can't come to my party! And, here - take your present back! and the card! There!!!! That'll show you!
What it showed the rest of us was that the two of you are immature to the extreme! You weren't sent to Austin to be best friends or roomies or playmates. We, the constituents (remember us?), expect you to work for the good of El Paso. As with every person who works, there are people we don't particularly care for personally, but we can respect the job they do or the work they do. We can respect their achievements & acknowledge them. If, in returning a gift in this very public, petty, nasty way was an example of Chavez' ability to get along with others, we are in trouble.
This was an embarrassment. Petty. Spiteful. Vindictive. Those are the words I think of when I hear their names.
And so do a lot of other El Pasoans. So ladies - take a hint -- GROW UP! You do not have to like each other, but yes we expect you to get along to work for the best interests of EL PASO! Do the jobs you were hired for & do them well. Or we will find others who WILL do the jobs well.

where does it end?
Every GRASS ROOTS organization had better get busy. NOW. The world is literally turning upside down, downside up, left is right, right is left. Okay those last 2 are wrong. The left is still the left in all it's delusional grandeur -- bho raising $$ to try to save Harry Reid's butt in Nevada & then jetting off to hang with hollyweird sycophants & pour more $$ bho's way. Why is bho's mis-use of oil perfectly ok but YOUR use of oil (gas, etc.) to get to work & earn a living is wrong? He has already stated he wants to see gas at prices no one can afford - well, except for him & his buddies.
News grows more disturbing daily:
- lawyers deciding which Chrysler dealers will be closed - minority owned &/or dem supporters stay open
- the idea of Koh running around deciding what laws will change in the U.S. to better mirror the U.N. & world-view
- bho spouting off that he wants to do 'more' - what, he forgot the change in piggybanks?
- N.Korea is conducting nuke tests & threatening S.Korean & U.S. ships
- bho is hosting/kissing up to Palestinian pres
- bho disses Israeli Pres. & tells him to lop off part of Israel for Palestine
- Pakistan is falling apart with the Taliban taking over larger portions daily
- U.S. housing market is still bad & getting worse - but a/p (always partisan?) reports as a gain of .03 in new home sales.
- Mortgage delinquencies/foreclosures are rising daily - more than 12% of mortgages are behind in payments
- Fed deficit is the trigger for inflation -- get ready to see the balloon bust
- (per Fox News) Supreme Court: 63% of Americans believe the U.S. Constitution should be the defining law; 30% of Americans believe SCOTUS rulings should be based on 'international laws'.Last I heard, this was still the UNITED STATES of AMERICA, formed under the CONSTITUTION, defined with the BILL OF RIGHTS & AMENDMENTS
- Sotomayor is the SCOTUS nominee of bho. sly? yep. self-serving? yep. slimy? yep. Will be voted in? yep.
- A few (3 to be exact) climate reports are trying to revive/save al gore/bho/climate hysteria. IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF. Every report is based on IF.....THUS HAPPENS & IF SO HAPPENS, then certain areas of the ocean will rise. IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF I win the lotter, I can move to another country until America is returned to sanity! IF I can find a country to move to.
REMEMBER: CONSERVATIVE is not a dirty word.

last thoughts for tonight....
Well, I hope those moderates & those compromisers are watching Pakistan & Afghanistan & Iraq & seeing the concessions being made by the governments of those regions to the Taliban. I hope they are getting scared into reality. I hope they are seeing that when you make a bargain, an agreement, with terrorists, the terrorists do not stick to their end of the bargain or go along with the agreement.
We are seeing the 'give them an inch & they'll take a mile' attitude of the Taliban as more & more people are desperate to escape from the regions handed over. These escaping people make the poor in America look as though they are kings & queens - wealthy & happy.
Wisconsin is bowing at the altar of bailouts & actually increasing the spending of government PLUS increasing taxes from as-yet-to-be-determined entities.
Texas, on the other hand, is being lead by a Governor who says NO BAILOUT MONEY WITH ANY STRINGS because eventually the feds will stop paying for whatever program & the state will be stuck with the costs of the program the feds mandated when Texas accepted the money.
Why can't the Wisconsin Governor see the reality? It is a state hit even harder by unemployment, business closings, & home foreclosures than Texas, even with the hurricane damages Texas has endured.
I happen to agree with Gov. Perry & absolutely disagree with Gov. Doyle. As families experience more problems, cut back further, lose jobs, lose homes, lose faith in government - who do you think will be blamed more by their constituents? Perry (TX) or Doyle (WI)?

Out & about
- just got an email from "Country First PAC" & being the curious person I am, went to the site. Surprise of surprises (sarcasm) it is all about John McCain. I am not knocking McCain's war experiences or love of country, since he is so quick to remind me of those. However, he is a RINO, has been a RINO for a very long time, will always be a RINO. He has the right to send out begging letters or emails or even notes on lunch bags, but he does not have the right to continue to lie about being a CONSERVATIVE. He is not.
I am not certain he even knows what a true CONSERVATIVE is, wants, or needs. I also believe it is too late for him to discover the true meaning of the word & apply it to his life. And that is unfortunate because it is time to elect someone who know the meaning of the word, lives & breathes the precepts of a true conservative & replace McCain with that person. - Florida gov. Charlie Crist is running (already) for retiring sen. Pruitt's seat. The Republican Nat'l Senate Committee (RNSC) has added their voice to his campaign. No money yet tho as he will have opponents in the primary. Since Crist has publicly stated he will be like Specter (former RINO, now an official Dem w/no seniority or power), I believe the RNSC has made a HUGE misstep that should be corrected NOW. The GOP is losing support daily by foolish decisions such as these. And Crist? He's a putz, in favor of a nanny-state, flips & flops, & I sincerely hope he loses in the primary. Altho I do feel sorry for the people of Florida....elections are 17 months away. It's going to be a long long 17 months for them.
- The prez is poised to announce his nominee for the Supreme Court. I know this because every news channel & newspaper & blog & internet blog has said every day: today might be the day. The POTUS keeps his name in the news by simply teasing these people into believing that 'oops, not today - maybe tomorrow'. Even his mouthpiece announced last week at the morning 'briefing' for the news people that the prez would be announcing his nominee at 6:30 a.m. the next morning', laughed at the groaning sycophants & said 'gotcha'. Haha. Good joke. NOT. Of all the things I hear the prez saying he wants in this appointee, empathy, sympathy, knowledge of laws of the world at large (tall order, but needs only the socialistic ones), sycophanty (is that even a word), adulation for his every word (ok, he hasn't actually said that one) -- what I do not hear is: aware of & well versed in the Constitution, the Bill of Rights & Amendments, as well as the Laws of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. I believe he is looking for someone to change the Supreme Court into a complete law-making body. It must be exhausting for the prez tho, looking always for adulation & admiration. Doesn't it get old for him? It sure has for WE THE PEOPLE. He was hired to do a TEMPORARY job. And thus far, I am not impressed. I want to be, as he is President of my country. As long as he continues on the socialism path, I will continue to pray for our country to make it through until his term is up. It is going to be a long 3 years & 8 months.

Sir Newton was right
- SECOND LAW: The net force on an object is equal to the size & weight of the object multiplied by its acceleration.
- THIRD LAW: For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
During campaigns, candidates tell us how smart they are & how much they will do for us. Do any of them ever tell the truth that no matter how smart they think they are or what they plan to do, they will screw things up for us? In fact, do they ever tell the truth? Their 1st concern is getting elected & from then their focus is on re-election & POWER.
Why would anyone one spend MILLIONS of dollars to get a (supposed to be) temporary job that pays around $150,000? There has to be a way to make money as almost every congressman & senator is a multi-millionaire after 1 or 2 terms in office.
Thinking about it, their last bit of truth was most likely when they stated their name. From then on, we are supposed to just take whatever they do, & say, regardless of how it negatively affects us & then keep re-electing these same self-serving liars.
Read Star Parker's comments on Townhall.com about the 'government plantation' (& other things), remember the 3 Laws of Motion, & learn to say "yes sir, mass'ah sir" to the nanny-state government coming soon to YOUR paycheck, YOUR healthcare, YOUR mortgage company, YOUR bank, YOUR area, YOUR life, YOU.
Be ready to move on to the plantation.

Consequences
We are back in the mess again -- this time with the CREDIT CARD bills congress just passed & the POTUS is touting as 'wonderful'. Well, it ain't all so wonderful & won't be fun. Again with LOUC! Everything congress touches outside the scope of the Constitution and/or Bill of Rights & Amendments, they screw up for the rest of us.Here is the CREDIT CARD mess congress & the president just put us in:
- Not paying a fee right now to have the card you have (except maybe on a few cards)? You will now so the CC companies can recoup the monies they are going to lose.
- Have a grace period when finance charges are not applied? Not anymore. They need the interest from the moment of your purchase to recoup their money.
- Have a high credit limit? Expect it to be lowered.
- Have high finance charges? Expect them to be higher.
- Have fees for late payments or paying on line or by phone? Raising all the other stuff will make up for congress deciding this goes away.
- Carry a balance every month because things are tight at your house? Expect your limit to not only go down, your interest percentage to go up, & fees to even have the damn card - they will come up with more ways to acquire your money.
LOUC - LAW OF UN-INTENDED CONSEQUENCES
The McCain-Feingold bill was 'going to clean up & straighten out' how politicians advertise; instead it opened up massive money for outside groups to advertise anything they want about any politician. LOUC sure bit McCain & Feingold in their butts -- but have they corrected their mistake? No. Therefore, anyone (unions, PACs, anti-this, pro-that) can advertise FOR or AGAINST a candidate, take anything out of context, say just about anything -- & some politician benefits without spending his 'hard earned' campaign money.
LOUC - LAW OF UN-INTENDED CONSEQUENCES
After looking at the health care system in Great Britain & Canada, talking to people from each country, I have come to the conclusion that a UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE SYSTEM such as is being proposed now, much like Hillary-care way back when, would be disastrous for our country. I deal with Medicare & it is, to say the least, frustrating; to say the most, it is asinine. An example for you: after 10 years of using a stomach gastrostomy tube (g-tube), Medicare refused to pay for my tubes anymore. When I called to find out why, there was no real reason given, just that I need to send in paperwork to show that I am still using one. HELLO? Anyone out in the world with a permanent need for a g-tube does not suddenly go to NOT needing one. Well, unless you die of course. But, I am not dead. So, why now? Well, to slow down payment which is already at a snail's pace.
No money in Medicare so I guess they save money by denying things that are necessary & forcing you to prove you still need this. Another example: only 1 formula seems to agree with my body - yet Medicare, because of their 'rules' demands I use it for most of my nutrition. That would be fine except it would cost me more than $700 a month. Living on $1,000 a month does not allow me to spend $700 for ANYTHING. Are they insane? Nope. They have their 'rule book', their 'guidelines'. When I asked who set these rules & guidelines up, no one can tell me. My bet is that it was someone who is concerned about money, has no medical knowledge, & only cares about the bottom line.
Well, if they care so much about money, why don't they stop THE FRAUDULENT CLAIMS & DOUBLE BILLINGS that Medicare pays to the tune of 12 BILLION taxpayer dollars? That would certainly help, don't you think?
I absolutely oppose any effort to create another government bureaucracy - especially one that would control our doctors, hospitals, insurance companies. Are dentists next or will they be included in the universal health care idiocy also?
Every time congress or the president tell me how they have just done something that is WONDERFUL for me, I shudder. Because it is only a matter of time until LOUC catches up & things are worse than they were before.
LOUC - LAW OF UN-INTENDED CONSEQUENCES
Remember this - it will be coming to bite your behind. Just be warned.

Interesting Place you MUST visit....
1st RULE IN BUSINESS: never sign anything until you read & understand it.
2nd RULE IN BUSINESS: see Rule #1.
Is it BECAUSE these rules are so simple, our reps cannot understand them? It has to make you wonder at how much these people truly DO NOT understand about the real world. It certainly makes me wonder. And afraid; VERY afraid. Of their ignorance. Most of them are lawyers/have a law degree, so they - even more than ANYONE - should take the advice they would certainly give to a client.

Wisconsin budget
Wisconsin is releasing a new budget. Personally, I believe it will be the death of many areas of the state. "Why?" you may ask.
Every business still left in the state is wondering now how to survive another blow. Every business is struggling & along come new taxes from every direction: federal, state & next will be (if not already) local. Those who can, will relocate to a state where they can survive; those who can't are making plans to close; some will simply try to survive & put off those decisions until they HAVE to be made. Businesses on the borders will be looking to move as soon as possible.
Residents who can, will establish residency in another state by agreeing to live there more than 1/2 the year. 'Snowbirds' already know this - Florida & Arizona & Texas are more receptive & less 'taxing' to them than Wisconsin so it only makes sense. Yet, the WI governor plows ahead with tax increases & spending increases.
Where will it stop? Who in the state senate or assembly has the fortitude to stand up for the residents of Wisconsin? Who will decide the PEOPLE are more important than the politics? Who will have the nerve?
Call, email, write a letter to, or fax your representatives & tell them to stand up for citizens. Tell them to use common sense: unemployed people will not increase the coffers of the state; closed businesses will not fill the coffers of the state; both will increase the demand on social services & the need to support those without jobs.
It is so simple to see & maybe that is the problem - governor doyle & cohorts do not want to look. They are all more concerned with gaining money to support their re-elections than to do what is right. Believe me when I tell you some people, some areas, some businesses will have exemptions written in any budget. Those are the ones that fuel re-election campaigns.
Cynical? yes. Hopeless? not yet. I'll let you know after the final budget is passed for Wisconsin.

Speed reading a Bill?
This is the very Climate Bill that will tell you how to live your life from now on: what to drive, how far to drive, how much electricity/gas/water you will be allowed to use & how you can use it, or whatever.
I don't actually know what is in the Bill or Amendments -- in that respect I am on par with my own representatives. I would like to actually know what is in the Bill -- in that respect I am not on par with my reps. They do not want to know what is in the Bill. They simply do not care. They just want to vote.
Democrats claim Republicans want to slow down this vote by (shocking new idea coming) ACTUALLY READING & DISCUSSING the Bill & ALL Amendments. So, the dems hired a SPEED READER to read the Bill & Amendments so it cannot be said they did not read it all before calling for a vote.
How the heck can they vote on something that was read to them - at lightening speed - instead of reading it themselves? Is this what they were elected to do?
Is this the way most of them will be able to use deniability when they are campaigning again? "Oh, gee. I must have missed that when the speed reader went over it. Wow. It went by so fast I can't be expected to know every detail."
Oh, sure. I believe you! Just show me where to mark to vote for you again! (this is sarcasm in case you are wondering)
ANY representative who has a Bill in front of them that is read aloud by a SPEED READER should be blasted with calls, emails, letters & faxes demanding their resignation. NOW!
Just in case you think I am making this up, or kidding, read the following from the Wall Street Journal:
- MAY 20, 2009
Need for Speed (Read) to Pass Climate Bill
By IAN TALLEY
WASHINGTON -- Democrats in the House Energy and Commerce Committee have taken a novel precaution to head off Republican efforts to slow action this week on a sweeping climate bill. They are hiring a speed reader.
Republicans on the committee have said they may force the reading of the entire 946-page bill -- as well as major amendments that measure several hundred pages -- all aloud. This is a procedure lawmakers have a right to invoke. Republicans are largely against the bill, which aims to cut emissions of so-called greenhouse gases by more than 80% over the next half-century but would be costly.
Republicans haven't tried the tactic, but Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D., Calif.) is prepared.
A committee spokeswoman said the speed reader -- a young man who was on door duty at the hearing as he awaited a call to the microphone -- was hired to help staffers. After years of practice, the panel's clerks can read at a good clip. But the speed reader is a lot faster, she said.
"Judging by the size of the amendments, I can read a page about every 34 seconds," said the newly hired staff assistant, who declined to give his name. Based on that estimate, it would take him about nine hours.
It took the committee more than two hours Tuesday to debate and vote on the first proposed amendment. By the time Capitol Hill interns finally left for tacos and happy-hour drinks at the local Mexican restaurant, the panel had approved just three amendments. Among them was a proposal to give government subsidies to people who trade in old cars or trucks for new, more efficient ones.
Mr. Waxman has said he still hopes to finish the bill by Thursday, meeting his goal of moving the climate bill out of committee by Memorial Day.
"He's dreaming. It ain't going to happen," said Texas Rep. Joe Barton, the panel's ranking Republican. He added that Republicans "have 400 amendments that we could offer, but there are at least 75-80 that we almost have to offer."

on Michael Steele
Quitting the RNC? He said that was newspaper & media hype. He simply stated that he would not be a 'figurehead' with no input - a puppet - for the RNC & would fight to make certain his role is one of actual LEADERSHIP. The media took that & extrapolated it into 'he says he will quit' when he did NOT say that. He simply wants to do the job for which he is hired - leading the Republican party.
It sounded like he is finally getting the message -- especially after the California massacre of spend&tax&borrow&spend&tax&borrow ideals -- that CONSERVATIVE IS NOT A DIRTY WORD.
My question is this though: ARE YOU GOING TO ALLOW THE RNC TO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT RINOs SUCH AS CRIST & SNOWE & idiots like them?????? Answer THAT & maybe you will win me over. Right now, I believe Crist is a bad idea, Snowe is a bad idea, their ilk should be thrown out. Period.
Michael Steele, it is time to say to every Republican representative: either you are FOR us or you are on your own. Period.

DOWNSIZING!
This is "a quick summary of what DownsizeDC.org is about" & I like it! If you have not visited them (see my 'Interesting Places') please take time to see what they are working to accomplish.
DownsizingDC is tackling thorny issues that demand our congress actually does the job for which we HIRED them. Please keep in mind, I believe in STRICT TERM LIMITS because as these reps are showing, & as pelosi stated, it is all about POWER. This has been the way -- no matter the party affiliation -- for too long. It must stop!
We did not vote for them to have POWER. We, the PEOPLE voted for them to represent our ideals & values. My own senator sent me a letter telling me that because HE did not PERSONALLY agree with, & was disappointed in, a vote in our state so he would not take the position the voters (his constituents) took -- he would, & will, vote differently.
EXCUSE ME? He was not elected to vote for HIMSELF; he was elected to represent the voters. PERIOD. That should be good enough for him, but it is not. He will continue to vote as he sees fit, regardless of what his constituents want or need or demand. A very good example is that his office was flooded 20 (against) to 1 (for) the bailouts & the budget; yet he continues to vote FOR the bailouts & obscene budgets. The 20 to 1 came from a staffer who answered the phone each time I called to ask the rep to vote against the bailouts & the budget mess.
So, go to www.downsizedc.org & you will find issues where you can add your voice. Eventually, the din will overwhelm them & they will HAVE no choice but to LISTEN to WE, THE PEOPLE. Please remember, this is who we are: WE, THE PEOPLE.
Every Grass Roots Organization in the country needs to be watching & supporting DownsizingDC. I support grassrootselpaso.org & now am a fan of DownsizingDC.

The NANNY State Cometh
- Does the FDA have so little to do that their people have time to complain to General Mills about the size of the FONT used on boxes of Cherrios for the cholesterol info? Seems to me the FDA obviously has too many people with nothing to do so they are making stuff up.
- Does Congress really have the idiocy to continue to raise taxes & lie at the same time? When the tax cuts were made under Pres. Bush' administration, federal income went up, but those will expire in 2010. So no more tax cuts - EVERYONE will feel the effect.
- When business is taxed beyond reason, they have no money with which to hire new people & in many cases (as we are now seeing) to retain the numbers of personnel they already employ. So businesses have lay-offs, early retirement, hiring/bonus/salary freezes & are still struggling with the economy. Does anyone in D.C. listen to ordinary people?
- Telling banks & credit card companies & investment firms & consumers what 'wonders' are being worked on our behalf is like pouring 1/2 a cup of salt into the ocean: it does nothing to improve the ocean. Would you be able to tell the difference?
- Why are California fields being allowed to lie fallow to save a little smelt fish which is used for bait in most areas of the country? Farmers & ranchers are going broke because of this idiocy.
- When has the government EVER created a new program that worked efficiently & effectively? EVER? I have to deal with Medicare on a regular basis; stop the billions of dollars in fraudulent claims every year & THEN come talk to me.
- So-called 'sin tax' used to be limited to basically alcohol & tobacco; now, that is not good enough. There are new taxes about to be levied by the GOVERNMENT on 'foods that cause obesity'; soda pop is only the first 'shot across the bow'. Be prepared for more. I suppose this means cavier & special steaks from Japan will be allowed only for friends of the current administration.
- Will rationing happen next? Will it be based on the number of calories a person is allowed to consume per day or ounces of meat allowed or cheese or number of crackers that can be eaten per -- what -- day, week, month, year? Who decides? Will each of us have to report to a government agency for weigh-ins?
- There was much screaming, crying & whining that government -- big brother -- was too intrusive by having the ability to listen to phone calls, map routes, take satellite pictures, intercept internet traffic, etc. during the Bush years. Why aren't we hearing from those people now? The same things are going on - & more.
- What will it be like when this new 'nanny state' tells you what you may & may not eat, where you can & cannot shop, foods you are & are not allowed, cars you are or are not allowed to purchase, where your children are & are not allowed to attend school?
- How is it that a charter school in the Minneapolis, MN receives taxpayer dollars but is only for Muslim students? It is the Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy, also with campuses in Blaine & Inver Grove Heights. Islamic religious practices & Arabic language instruction are cornerstones & the school is housed in the same building as a Mosque. It was slated to received over 3 million in tax dollars for 2007-08 school year. Why can't Lutherans or Catholics or Baptists have the same support to start their own 'charter' schools? Why can't other religions have taxpayer support for obviously religious 'public' charter schools, that are not for the public? Read Robert Spencer's "Stealth Jihad" & get an eye-opening view of radical Islam.
- Why are WE, THE PEOPLE allowing massive government intrusion into our lives & sitting meekly by as more & more liberties are taken away from us? If you haven't found your voice to speak out now, pretty soon it will be too damn late. The bailouts are a good example -- why did we allow them to happen?
- Why do we put up with a POTUS who apologizes for us to countries that owe their very freedom, their very existence, to the U.S. men & women who fought for them?
- Why do we put up with a POTUS sitting meekly nodding & smiling while a dictator, a brutal blood-thirsty cretin, preaches to him about how horrible America is & then our POTUS apologizes?
- Have we Americans lost our minds or just our courage?

Irresponsibility
Child #2 is irresponsible, spends every penny earned/received & runs up massive debts to 'pay later' so when a big 'want' or 'need' comes along, they run to Mommy & Daddy for $$. Child #2 continues to spend & accumulate more debt even after being rescued time & again by Mommy & Daddy.
Substitute the words "Federal Government" for "Mommy & Daddy"
Last question: if California can continue to spend like congress & the president, i.e. with nothing to back it up & no money to cover the debts, why should any other state in the country try to operate in the black?
A bailout of irresponsible state governments (AND businesses) rewards them for being irresponsible & penalizes responsible state governments (AND responsible businesses).

Wind shifts?
California is deeply in debt. For years the massive spending to satisfy certain political supporters & groups has saddled more & more debt on citizens & businesses. Now everything has come to a boil - the bills are due & there is no money to pay them. So, it is back to the constituents to cajole, beg, compliment, promise, even threaten to cut necessary programs.
News reports today are predicting only 25% of voters will go to the polls. I believe this would have been true before the Tea Party events & Grass Roots movement. The Tea Parties in California were huge & attracted people from ALL walks of life. Now, I believe there will be more voters than expected. I believe the 'silent majority' will begin to speak today.
I sincerely wish all Californians the courage Ms. Prejean showed when she represented your state, whether or not you agreed with her statement. I hope & pray every voter will make the effort to get to the polls & let their voice be heard.
Good luck, California. You need it.
show me the $$$$
Click on the title of this blog to see where some of it is going. Sign-makers rejoice. Taxpayers weep.
Oh, for complete transparency, check out www.recovery.gov & when you figure it out for your area....be sure to let me know. If this is 'transparent', I need to rethink my definition of 'opaque'. Please feel free to send me pics of how $tarp$ is being used in your neck of the woods.
Texas Governor Perry is walking his talk that no bailout money with strings attached or new programs that have to be created, will be accepted by Texas; not very popular with those in 'elected power' who want the $$. He knows the reality that the $$ will run out from D.C. & the state will be stuck with the tab from there. He does not want the state to take on more federally-mandated-temporarily-funded programs. Bravo for him standing strong for Texas. Most Governors do not have his courage: like Doyle in Wisconsin they are begging at the table of D.C. & will do whatever the feds direct, no matter the ultimate cost to the constituents of the state they are 'supposed' to represent.
WE, THE PEOPLE.....

the POTUS speaks
To quote Robert DeNiro from the movie Broken Trail, "I am a thoroughly failed Christian". I say this because only GOD will decide if I am a "good" Christian or a "good" Catholic. I can only do the best I can & work for His purposes. It is the hardest thing to do because my own will & wants get in the way. However, I do not pretend to be someone I am not. Some guy speaking out for bho on FOX said that was the reason bho was going to ND is because he is engaging in a 'dialogue' with Catholics. There can BE no dialogue with someone who believes Roe v. Wade was the watershed moment for women, believes embryos are nothing, believes abortion should be allowed anytime, anywhere, for anyone, for any reason, AT ANY STAGE OF PREGNANCY. In fact, the U.S. believes so strongly in abortions - as bho represents us - that the taxpayers even pay for abortions in other countries.
The 'star struck' swooners today at Notre Dame will hear nothing to dissuade them. I find it offensive that ND will confer an 'honor' on bho. The University used to be a beacon of light for many Catholic families who dreamed of their children attending a top-flight university. Now, that light is dimmed for many more than the Board at ND can imagine. I would feel sorry for them, but they brought it on themselves. Asking him to speak was one thing, 'honoring' him takes it to a whole different level - down.
While I am on 'honors', here is the one who deserves honors: PROFESSOR MARY ANN GLENDON. The former U.S. ambassador to the Vatican told Notre Dame she will not accept the school's top honor because the school is giving President Barack Obama an honorary degree at commencement. Professor Glendon, an anti-abortion scholar and Harvard University law professor, wrote in a letter to the Rev. John Jenkins, the university president, that giving Obama an honorary degree violates the U.S. bishops' 2004 statement that Roman Catholic institutions shouldn't honor people whose actions conflict with the church's moral principles.
Every moral position of bho is in absolute direct conflict with Catholic Church. Or at least what they are supposed to be. The priest in my (former) home church told parishioners that we should not be 'one issue' voters & bho's position on life should not keep us from voting for him. EXCUSE ME? He did this about Kerry 4 years ago & this time was the final straw for me. Supported by his parish, not living as most families have to - many are struggling - he has no clue what the real world is like. His position, combined with other ministers, influenced many to the greatest deception in our history thus far. All the time bho was stating his positions, my priest was castigating anyone not grabbing onto bho's legs.
Sadly, the younger kids, especially college age, simply DO NOT see the issues. They do not see his charm & charisma come from speak writers & his delivery of those lines from a teleprompter. They are 'star struck' by his being at ND. I know this because several younger college kids are there to watch their sibling graduate & they are simply google-eyed that they will "be near him", meaning bho. bho is a superb actor with a teleprompter but I have to wonder, does it have little notes like "look serious", "smile", "look humble" (tough one).Unless & until we can educate these young people - we have lost the battle. I am not yet so cynical that I believe we have lost the war.
We need to rethink how to communicate. We need to find succinct communicators who convey Conservative messages CONSISTENTLY; are reasoned/reasonable without denying the Conservative morals; are thoroughly immune to seeing themselves as a 'star'; are in firm support of our Constitution. We need to walk the walk as well as talk the talk. Do these people exist? Absolutely! Do I know who they are? Absolutely not. But we should definitely start with people like Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Ron Paul, Bob Jindahl (with a makeover & shoulderpads), & Rick Perry.
If FOX News is the only channel that will give a fair hearing, go to them time & again as they are the #1 rated news channel. If newspapers do not print reality, find a buyer & change the paper to one of fairness & reality. If radio stations are to be taken over by the bho FCC dictates, conservative talk radio will broadcast from offshore. There are many Conservatives with a lot of money who are willing to spend it to help AS LONG AS THE MESSAGE IS COHESIVE & SOLID & CLEAR.
Not so hard, really, when you think about it. The Grass Roots Movement was dismissed by so many "in power" (AstroTurf to Pelosi) yet it continues - much to the chagrin of those who want to wear the mantle of "moderate" (aka wimp, aka go-along-to-get-along), or want to ignore that this country was founded on THE CONSTITUTION. The Grass Roots people (yep, I am one of 'those') are scary simply because we are asking elected officials to represent the voters. That is another blog though.
So, this is why I say that I cannot tell you I am a 'good' Catholic or a 'good' Christian. This is for God to decide on my judgment day. Not a priest who tells me it is acceptable to not only deny the teachings of the Bible, but I can pick & choose which mores of the Catholic faith to follow. Somehow, when I come before God, I don't think He will accept an excuse like "my priest said it was ok".

Are YOU a terrorist?
If you answered 'yes' to any of the above questions, you may be labeled a "rightwing extremist". In fact, by writing this, I am probably already labeled one.
As I write this, I keep hearing Jeff Foxworthy drawl.....you just might be a terrorist!
going GALT.....
"According to World Net Daily, May 9, 2009, "A new gun law being considered in Congress, if aligned with Department of Homeland Security memos labeling everyday Americans a potential 'threats,' could potentially deny firearms to pro-lifers, gun-rights advocates, tax protesters, animal rights activists, and a host of others--any already on the expansive DHS watch list for potential 'extremism.'
"Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., has sponsored H.R. 2159, the Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2009, which permits the attorney general to deny transfer of a firearm to any 'known or suspected dangerous terrorist.' The bill requires only that the potential firearm transferee is 'appropriately suspected' of preparing for a terrorist act and that the attorney general 'has a reasonable belief' that the gun might be used in connection with terrorism.
"Gun rights advocates, however, object to the bill's language, arguing that it enables the federal government to suspend a person's Second Amendment rights without any trial or legal proof and only upon suspicion of being 'dangerous.'"

Quick takes....
These lawsuit-happy people are the same ones telling the rest of us "to live & let live; accept all lifestyles". They must not understand the value of WALK their own TALK.
They, & the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, prove Forrest Gump's mother right - STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES.
----The Christian Legal Society (CLS) has filed a petition for certiorari with the U.S. Supreme Court to protect the rights of the religious student group at the Hastings College of Law, University of California. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the organization had to accept members who did not hold Christian beliefs or morals.
-----The Alliance Defense Fund (ADF), along with the Thomas More Law Center (TMLC), have filed a brief in defense of Boy Scouts at the U.S. Supreme Court. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of an agnostic couple and a lesbian couple who did not like the Scouts beliefs or ethics.

How many warnings are needed?
Oh, that's right. It was because they were raking in lots of money for their own campaigns!
This video clearly shows that George Bush tried to warn Congress starting in 2001, that an economic crisis was coming, if something was not done. But congress refused to listen, along with the arrogant Congressman Barney Frank.
This video says it all and more. Everyone in America needs to see this before it is yanked off YouTube again!

Do Not Forget Tea Party Lessons
This is a file I sincerely hope you will open. Listen to this young woman so maybe you will understand why I went to a Tea Party on the 15th. I believe we must ALL get involved in what is happening in Washington DC. If we do not get involved, if we continue to bury our heads in the sand, or hope someone else is 'taking care of business' we can blame no one but ourselves.
Remember, this is not a party (Dem or GOP) thing! It has nothing to do with race or religion or eye color or hair color. It has everything to do with what is right for the United States of America & her citizens. Creating debt of what essentially amounts to $500,000 per person cannot possibly be the answer. Politicians need to listen to the ordinary people of this country.
Please watch the speech of this (extra)ordinary young woman.

Random El Paso election thoughts....
I have to admit I am totally shocked that there are only 345,000 or so REGISTERED voters here in this city of over 750,000 people. The vote that throws most of the same ones back into the council chambers was accomplished by less than 10% of the city's REGISTERED VOTERS. So, 1 person is dictating for more than 9 other REGISTERED VOTERS the management of this city &, to a great extent, what will happen in their lives. Are you comfortable with that?
I notice the re-elected mayor said this is wonderful because it shows (in his mind anyway) the support for his "progressive council" & pride in all their accomplishments. SAY WHAT? In what world does he live? The lessons he SHOULD get (but won't) is the voters are completely apathetic about him & the rest of his crew. What he SHOULD be saying is: we need to engage more voters in the process. But he & his cronies won't do this because then they might be found to be less than forthright & someone else would be elected. Elections are planned down to the exact days to be held, normally anticipating the lowest turnout because then the outcome is pretty much already decided. Those already in office use every opportunity to get their name in the paper & on the news, in front of potential voters, because that name recognition will serve them well instead of the challengers -- no matter how much advertising they buy.
Cook strikes me as a con artist & thus far he seems to be doing everything to reinforce this perception. If you are a person with lots of money, I am sure you are important to him & his cronies as they bob & weave & slide all around expanding city government & spending money the city does not have. All the while, he & the council talk about low taxes, low cost of living, great schools, storm-water runoff, etc. That last one didn't work out quite as well as he wanted as the few voters who did show up displayed the good sense to leave storm-water management with the PSB rather than putting it into the hands of political appointees.
Frankly, when has a politician EVER improved your life? Seriously, I would like to know. I am certain there must be individuals out there who have a story of being helped with a specific problem. However, every time politicians get into the mix, there is usually an outcome that is neither wanted & oft-times unintended. How, exactly, has Cook being the Mayor helped you in some way that is helpful to others also?
A case in point: who thought up building 'round-abouts' on residential streets & decided this was a valid idea in a quiet neighborhood? Things were going along fine. I never had a problem at that intersection & quite frankly, it is not one that is heavily traveled. The ones using the main street where the 'round about' was built are the residents of this housing area. I have come close, just about every time I go that way, to being hit by other drivers who simply drive in & never look to see if others are coming. Good grief! the street is barely wide enough for a car to park on each side of the street & 2-way traffic to continue. So, the city puts in this absurd 'round about'. Assinine does not even begin to describe how foolish this was & what a waste of money!
Now there really IS congestion (& danger) when someone tries to park near the houses on the corners nearest to the nightmare 'round. People approach & if they need to make a turn, go the wrong way to 'cut the corner' & not go around the circle. WHY IS IT HERE? Take the damn thing out! I have watched youngsters try to cross the street (there is a school about a block away) & with no stop signs drivers ignore them. I am afraid there will have to be a serious injury or death of a child before anyone in 'power' acknowledges the absurdity of the situation & removes this nightmare. I pray I am wrong, that someone in the city will wake up & remove this traffic hazard before someone gets hurt.
Why are parks, sports facilities & pretty downtown ideas thought up by Cook & associates a good idea when social services is suffering under the weight of so many people in need & so few workers to help them? Maybe those in need can just go sleep in one of the pretty little 'green' areas. I'm sure it will make them feel better. Why isn't more money available for police officers & firemen? Why isn't more money available for the El Paso Animal Control people? Where is the priority for these vital services? It is being spent for El Paso to be pretty for visitors that will be attracted if the council just does ???? (fill in the ? mark with some inane idea).
Why is giving money to builders for new office or retail space a priority when the Northeast has so much of both sitting empty? The Northeast does not exist except as an aside from Cook that he 'came from the northeast' as though that makes him 'one of the common people'. Wrong. The situation in the Northeast worsens every day that no new businesses open. Why are there no incentives for companies to locate in the Northeast? There certainly is a lot of space to from which to choose. So, Cook being from the Northeast, how has this helped the area?
The council jets off to visit other places & see how they do things; they fly off to meetings; they trip the light fantastic & get paid to play. There are such things as internet meetings & DVDs & info provided many ways other than spending time & money jetting around! As businesses cut back, pare expenses, the council continues with business as usual.
Residents pay higher & higher taxes - WHY DO THEY SIT STILL FOR IT? geez....
My father's property tax statement just came. It is common knowledge the housing market, even in El Paso with more incoming military personnel, is down. So please, someone, Cook? anyone on the 'progressive' council? explain how his taxes went up for 'improvements'? There has been no work done because he lives on a very tight, fixed income. This house needs a new cooler, new windows, new soffit & fascia, concrete work in the driveway & sidewalk, landscaping front & back, just to mention a few needed 'improvements'.
So, please explain the IMPROVEMENTS? Where the heck are they? He & I am know exactly what needs to be done & neither of us can afford the work. Where is the help for him with this 'progressive' council? Oops. He's not wealthy. I am not wealthy. Therefore, the only time he counts is elections & THAT rates an electronically generated, prerecorded phone message. Thanks for caring about your constituents.
So, Mayor Cook, as you bask in the glow of your victory, realize the grass is growing & the roots are getting deeper.
This new term will not be a repeat of the last one. You will now have to deal with that pesky 'silent majority'. We are getting louder. If you do not listen & learn, you can kiss your political dreams bye-bye. And that goes for your 'progressive' council also.

The Eagle Has Died
Our Eagle has only it's left wing. This is the 'perfect storm' horror scenario because there are no longer ANY checks & balances. The president is an ultra-liberal democrat, the senate has a majority of ultra-liberal democrats, the house of representatives has a majority of ultra-liberal democrats. Left-wing ultra-liberals are being appointed to every position of 'power', including the judiciary.
There is no discussion or input allowed from the 'right-wing', i.e. conservatives therefore there is no balance. There has been a pretense of listening (for photo ops), patching things up, working together but in the end, anyone republican &/or conservative is ignored, snubbed, discounted, disparaged.
Have you ever seen a bird with a broken wing? The bird will die, or be eaten by a predator, because it cannot fly.
Remember this as we face the days, the weeks, the months ahead.

Pedophiles YES Vets NO
The Hate Crimes Bill actually will add protection even for pedophiles. They will be able to claim they fall under the 'special group' clauses of the bill. FOX News' Megyn Kelly reports on how the Democrats voted to protect pedophiles but not veterans. She talked with the author of the amendment to correct this, Republican Steve King of Iowa, about this travesty.
King wanted to make sure that people who commit sex crimes against children don't get special protection under the amendment, and every single Democrat voted against this. Later, the same group decided that veterans do not need special protection they are offering to others because veterans & military personnel do not/have not suffered any type of real problems. I guess being spit on, attacked, screamed at, hit, their offices being blown up &/or set on fire, being denied access to airports or schools -- beginning in the 60s & continuing today -- does not count.
Click on this blog title to view the exchange between Megyn & Rep. King.
The House of Representatives is pathetic - every Democrat should be deeply ashamed of this 'Hate Crimes' bill.
CALL YOUR SENATORS NOW & TELL THEM TO VOTE 'NO' TO GIVING CERTAIN PEOPLE MORE RIGHTS THAN OTHERS.
Tell them you are tired of being discriminated against -- & if you believe I'm wrong think about this: if one group gets special consideration because of 'sexual orientation' or any other group specified in this bill & you do not fit one of those designations, it automatically by it's own definition, denies you the same exclusive protections. Therefore, these bills are actually CREATING discriminatory classes.
Are you covered under any special bills? If not, where is the bill protecting your rights? Oops. That was The Bill of Rights & it's Amendments plus the Constitution. These documents are out of fashion, no longer valid, no longer necessary, no longer used. Bypassing them seems to be the style of this 'open, honest, transparent' administration & congress.
THIS IS A NEW LOW EVEN FOR POLITICIANS. I'm waiting to see what is next.
But I AM NO LONGER SILENT!!!!

Conservative is NOT a dirty word
CONSERVATIVES accept everyone. All are welcome.
CONSERVATIVE is not a dirty word.
GOP Chairman Michael Steele needs to get that through to everyone that THIS will be the branding. All sizes, shapes, colors, creeds, are welcome.
I believe the strength of the GOP party is in the word CONSERVATIVE and living up to that premise. We need to understand & verbalize & support that principle alone & we will have a solidified base.
Chairman Steele will continue to be untrusted as long as he preaches that he is a MODERATE. What is THAT? Heck, there are a lot of Democrats who call themselves 'moderates' so what good is this word? Thus far, those in republicans in congress who brand themselves as 'moderates' have done nothing toward the principles the GOP is supposed to espouse.
At the heart of it all: we believe in limited government, low taxation, necessary/needed social programs, the safety of America, obeying the laws of our country. We do not eat small children or burn people at the stake.
It is past the time to stand up - as over a million did across the nation at Tea Parties - & declare: I AM A CONSERVATIVE & PROUD OF IT !!!!!
Say it with me: CONSERVATIVE IS NOT A DIRTY WORD!

A Tale of Houses
I take no credit for writing this....I don't know where it came from originally but was sent to me in an email. Having checked it out, it seems to be true.
The fun of politics...A Tale of Houses
House #1 - A 20 room mansion, plus 8 bathrooms, heated by natural gas plus a pool, pool house & separate guest house, all heated by gas. In one month this residence consumes more energy than the average American household does in a year. The average bill for electricity & natural gas runs over $2400 per month. In natural gas alone, this property consumes more than 20 times (other reports have the figure at only 12 times) the national average for an American home. The 60 to 70-year-old house is undergoing renovations to add solar panels to reduce consumption off the power grid, and energy-efficient windows have been installed. The home also uses "compact" fluorescent light bulbs and other energy-saving technology, the owners drive hybrids and participate in two programs that indirectly reduce carbon emissions. In the year since steps to make the home more energy-efficient, energy use surged more than 10%, according to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research.
This house is not situated in a Northern or Midwestern "snow belt" area. It's in the South.
House #2 - Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university, this house incorporates every "green" feature current home construction can provide. The house, constructed of local limestone, is 4,000 square feet (4 bedrooms) & is nestled on a high prairie in the American southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat-pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground. The water (usually 67 degrees F) heats the house in the winter & cools it in the summer. The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas & it consumes one-quarter the electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system. The water for the outdoor pool is heated with the same system which proved so efficient that initial plans to install solar energy panels were cancelled. Rainwater from the roof is collected & funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks & toilets goes into underground purifying tanks then into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Surrounding flowers & shrubs native to the area enable the property to blend into the surrounding rural landscape.
House#3 - has never had anything that we can find written about additional energy efficiency measures or reducing the carbon footprint by the current owners.
~~~~~
HOUSE #1 is outside of Nashville, Tennessee;
it is the abode of the "environmentalist" Al Gore.
HOUSE #2 is on a ranch near Crawford, Texas;
it is the residence of former President of the United States, George W. Bush.
HOUSE #3 is a $1.65 million restored Georgian mansion in the Kenwood neighborhood. It's the Chicago home of the current President
Yup, go ahead, blame it on Bush, again! An "inconvenient truth."
INCONVENIENT though it may be, it makes valid points. Snopes shows bias by trying to mitigate the amount of gas & electric used by home #1, stating it is used as an office for the couple who owns it. Uh, nope, not quite buying that. Snopes also shows bias by trying to say that House #2 had to be built as it was because of the area in which it is located. Uh, nope, not quite buying that either. It could have been built much as most others in the area who did not employ such planning.
Also, it's disgraceful that energy-saving features (solar, etc.) had to be installed after it was pointed out that House #1 was not following the 'global warming' preaching. The facts are what they are & it is plain that if you are going to preach to me about the energy I use, you darn well better have your own house in order first. DO NOT talk the talk until you are already walking the walk.
Last but not least in my musings is this: where does House #3 fall? On the side of pseudo-environmentalism or is it as environmentally friendly as possible? My guess is that it will get the same, un-investigated, un-questioned pass the current president has gotten from the media.
Redistribution
A college girl, home for spring break, was really upset with her father. She was unhappy he owned a business, was a conservative, a Christian & especially because he was a Republican. She had studied in school about how horrible Republicans were & she was ashamed of him. She demanded that he unionize his business. She demanded that he share the profits with the employees. She had taken classes that explained how unfairly workers were treated, how unfairly the poor were treated, how much people with money owed to others. He listened calmly to everything she had to say.
He listened as she complained bitterly about another girl in her dorm who was also from their town & working for the same degree - they had a lot of classes together. But the other girl partied a lot, studied just enough to maintain a 'C' average, attended lots of parties, was popular on campus, had a lot of friends, was "having a good time" when college was "a time to get serious". She herself studied hard, didn't go to parties, wasn't into the 'social scene' at college but made straight A's.
Then her father patiently explained a few things to her.
First: being a Christian, believing in God, was his choice & she was free to make her own choice; he was not forcing her to attend his Church nor was he forcing her to believe as he does. He was trying to live an honest, hard-working, moral life & through prayer, helping his church who helps others, in these ways he "redistributed" his faith in God.
Second: he started his business with very little money, when she was a small child; it had gone well because he hired good people, treated his customers & employees with respect & courtesy; he recognized his employees for their work with paid holidays, paid vacations, insurances, etc. - all of which came out of his pocket. In good years there were bonuses paid, in bad years the employees had not paid HIM & they had always been free to choose a union if so desired. Then he explained that "yes, they lived well because of the business" but first of all, he was the one who took all of the risk by starting the business, he paid all the taxes to the state & federal governments, he met all mandates by the state & the feds - if it failed, the employees could find other jobs but he would be the one in debt, There were times he had had to borrow money to make sure they were able to weather economic downturns. The business existed because HE took the risks, NOT the employees. In business, he "redistributed" the money he worked hard to earn by these choices.
Third: he reminded her that her college tuition was being paid by him because he worked hard in the business & if she wanted to pay it instead of him, she was free to do so. Also, she was free to get a job while in school to earn extra money so he didn't have to send her money. If she really felt the distaste she was describing for his business, she was free to pay her own car payment, insurance, gas & auto maintenance. She could pay for her own health insurance also, as well as for all her own clothes. Trips & vacations could be paid for with HER earnings. It would be fine with him if he no longer "redistributed" his money to her.
Next: the father turned to the subject of the other college girl from town. He asked if his daughter had the same opportunities to attend parties; she did but she chose to study. He asked if his daughter had the same opportunities to make a wide circle of friends; she did but kept to herself because she chose to study. He asked if his daughter had the same opportunities to "have a good time" as the other girl; she said "yes, but I want straight A's so I study".
Last, he asked if his daughter considered herself a Republican, a Democrat, an Independent, or whatever; she scoffed at him & said "I would never be a Republican! I am a Democrat! I believe in sharing with others! I believe in equality for all!"
So he made a suggestion: since both girls were going for the same degree, his daughter - with all her stated beliefs - should go to the Dean & ask him to take all of her good grades & all of the so-so grades of the other girl & average them together. That way, with his daughter's 'A' average & the other girl's 'C' average, they would both wind up with a 'B' average. He patiently explained that, according to her stated belief in "redistribution", this would be FAIR.
As you might imagine, the daughter exploded! How could he even THINK of suggesting that? Why should she do that? What was wrong with him? She worked for her 'A' average! She wasn't about to change it to a 'B' just because someone else didn't study. She could NOT get a job because she had too much studying to do. How could he even THINK to ask her to do that?
So the father reminded her of her earlier statements "I would never be a Republican! I am a Democrat! I believe in sharing with others! I believe in equality for all!"
"Whether you like it or not, you, my dear daughter" said her father "are a Republican about YOUR grades, but a Democrat about MY money."
and the billions just keep being spent
Every single day it seems there is a new request for a billion here, a billion there, a few billion here, a few billion there.....
WHEN DOES IT STOP? Do you remember when a politician asking to spend millions - that's with an 'M' in case you've forgotten - was an outrage? Where is the outrage over spending HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS? Didn't the pols learn anything from the TEA parties? One lesson they probably haven't figured out yet is that they are ALL in trouble. While the media tries to marginalize the turnout, I can promise there were millions, possibly tens of millions, who were not able to be there because of work, taking care of their family & obligations.
Helping those in our country who are working NEVER seems to be at the forefront of spending money. I am sick of the handouts to foreign countries. Who in the world helps us? Our own government despises us except for the money paid in to Washington. Elitists tell us other nations 'hate' us. Yet I believe ordinary people in other nations do not hate us. For the most part, it is the elitists who are hated - both abroad & here in America.
We despise those who are 'do as I say, not as I do' people; those who think they are better because of money or perceived power or whatever has brought them such arrogant ignorance. They are the ones who run around the world apologizing for Americans.
How dare they? I do not want them apologizing for me. I'm a grownup - when I need to apologize, I do so. I pity the those so busy looking down their nose at others when they are the ones who have no clue about the real world.
Aren't you tired of it? When do we help our own citizens - when do they get help? When do they count as more than a bank to be robbed by Washington? When do we tell the politicians they work for US, not the other way around? It will only happen when we REMIND them that they work FOR us. And in what is supposed to be a TEMPORARY job although there are those who have never held a real job except for "public service", i.e. as a politician. It is time to hold every single politician accountable.
During campaigns, the candidates TALK THE TALK. Once elected, I expect them to WALK THE WALK.
Thus far, very few have even worked up to crawling.
Quick thoughts on Specter
This, in case you haven't guessed, is a)no surprise & b)no loss. At 79, he has spent more time becoming a Democrat than most Democrats. Specter is a true RINO in all his shameful gore. Waving bye-bye to the 79 year old is not going to bother anyone.
Why did he do it? When he saw the Republicans wanted someone more in tune with true precepts (small government, low taxes, etc), he heard the death knell for his 'career'. So, he jumped ship.
Thank you Arlen, for saving Republicans the trouble of watching you embarrass yourself in the primary. And, hey, Dems, good luck with that, um, well, uh, 'addition' to your party. You are welcome to the guy. If your 'luck' holds out, maybe the Republicans can convince Snowe & Collins to jump over to your boat too.
Independents - are you paying attention? The 2 parties are writing a thesis on how to vote & act & govern as an elected official. Read & do not follow those instructions!
this is URGENT
Our President sits by, our Senate sits by, our Congress sits by & our taxpayer money continues to flow into Iran to 'help' (appease) them. Where is the leadership they talk about, campaign on, remind us of in their numerous interviews & on their websites?
Iran abides by no law other than their 'pretend' courts & Islam as defined at that moment by Ahmadinejad. We are in huge trouble because they already have nuclear power & it is likely, according to every intelligence agency in the world, that they have already developed nuclear weapons.
Please help Roxana & all the others imprisoned by the 'pretend' Iranian courts & before more people imprisoned in Iran die.
Out of the mouths of babes
EVERY person has the right to their say. Plenty of people say things that offend me - especially all the cursing or if they are lying - but they say it. I have the right to present another side, ignore it, dispute it, forget it, not listen; in other words, I HAVE CHOICES.
One choice I DO NOT have is to attack the speaker - verbally or physically. This seems to be something some people in this country do not understand. Disagreeing with someone is never accomplished by cursing, calling names, degrading, getting in their face, screaming &/or physically intimidating them.
Since many people seem confused about this, it should be taught at every grade level, permanently noted on every t.v. screen & computer, printed below the masthead of every newspaper, made into Public Service Announcements. Somehow, we need to get this through to those who believe they have the right to scream in anothers' face or grab them or throw something at them - because they disagree with what is being said.
The 1st Amendment stands true for EVERYONE. I may not like what you are saying, but I will defend your right to have your say, unintimidated, unharmed & unmolested.
If you believe you can silence others with intimidation or physical acts or by screaming in their face, I think you only make them more determined to have their say. Now they may do this in secret next time to avoid confrontation - but they will get their message out.
Please treat someone speaking as you want to be treated. If you disagree, then disagree peacefully, concisely, intelligently - AFTER THEY HAVE HAD THEIR SAY. You may even be able to make the speaker rethink some of their positions if you do this. If you listen to them, you may even learn something.
There was a time when I needed to deal with something my daughter had done. That night, I went up to her room to talk to her. She looked at me & said "Mom, can't you just spank me or beat me or something like that?" And yes, she was serious.
I asked if I had ever done this & she answered "no". So I asked why she wanted me to spank or beat her instead of talk to her about what she had done.
She said "because if you beat me or spank me that's the end of it. If you TALK to me about it then I have to THINK about it".
Out of the mouths of babes......
And yes, I TALKED to her. Why change what works? :-)
regarding our President
We as a society need to help those who cannot help themselves. Many needs are met through social programs churches or faith organizations have created. They have to constantly beg & plead for money, look for ways to stretch every dollar. Therefore, they are extremely concerned with income/outgo as they do not have unlimited resources.
Government programs, as a rule, do not follow the same precepts. If they did, Medicare (for example) would not have tens of BILLIONS of dollars wasted in fraudulent claims - EVERY YEAR. Once a program is created, funded, regulated, by the government, it becomes bloated & top-heavy. If we could get each department, each individual on the government payroll to care as much about where each dollar goes I believe fraud would be minimal. We need to create an atmosphere in every department that makes them realize they are spending money that is NOT limitless & IS on a tight budget. We cannot afford new departments, more government.
I could not actually care less if our President is a Republican or Democrat or what color skin he or she has. I think BOTH parties have much of which to be ashamed. I do want any President to be a successful leader.
I do not want him to apologize to other countries for me or to call me arrogant. Ever.
I do not want him to sit & say nothing as a dictator trashes America - he should have politely said 'excuse me' & left the room. Sitting there & taking the trashing lecture was wrong.
I don't care how he shakes hands with others (he's trying to be hip & cool) but bowing to the head of another country when it is not protocol, should never be done. I expect him to be polite, but not go overboard.
If he thinks another country, especially one of socialism or communism, is a better place to live, then why isn't he living there?
For all those who do not like America, the great thing about her is that you are free to leave.
No one will hunt you down & force your return - unless you've committed a crime.
Friday thoughts....,
I have no 'followers' as of yet, but I just changed my template (as you will see if you've been here before) so maybe someday I will have some. There is always hope! :-) Plus, I am writing this for me. If you enjoy it, it makes you think or wonder or consider or check something, then all the better.
After being asked by my oldest son why the President flip-flopped about prosecuting former President Bush administration members regarding policies on dealing with terrorists, it got me to thinking. Why now? Well, here's my answer: because it is simple misdirection. Any talented magician can do this. President Obama, charming & charismatic (especially with a teleprompter), is drawing your attention away from other things:
1. falsely named EFCA (Employee Fair Choice Act) which will make it possible for more unionizing in a time when unions are going by the wayside & fewer employees want unions in their companies or employees do not want to go on strike but are being threatened with "huge fines" by their union (check out AT&T's union problems) if they do not strike or picket
2. the neutering of our military at exactly the time things are seriously heating up in Pakistan & elsewhere in the Middle East
3. the very likely government takeover of banks by the conversion of stock in the huge banks that accepted TARP monies
4. the takeover of GMC by the government
5. the millions of tax dollars promised to Mexico & Hamas (Palastenians)
6. the fact he is pressuring Israel to create a state for Palestine out of the small amount of land Israel actually has
7. the enormous amounts of money being spent by Congress & Senate
8. that 'Cap & Trade' is going to devastate many families already on the edge of poverty but he is planning to use the money to nationalize healthcare
9. not only has he not fired Napolitano, he is ignoring that she ignores U.S. immigration laws & publishes reports that are erroneous & based on ZERO facts
10. 'going green' is going to bankrupt many people, companies & industries
11. last thought - so we don't notice all the expensive & lavish parties going on at the White House while we are all watching our pennies
I wonder why, as President Obama has released memos that detail how info was gotten from terrorists that actually prevented attacks that were planned, he still will not release his birth certificate or his college records. It seems odd to me. There is probably nothing to see in either one, but not releasing them makes for many questions.
Some people are upset the president is pictured on the cover of a magazine in a swimsuit or basketball shorts with no shirt. I personally think it's undignified, but he thinks it's cool. My only question about it is it real or airbrushed or photoshop?
As we continue to hear that politicians really really really want to ignore the TEA Parties, more grassroots organizing is taking place. It would be smart for them to listen.
For every idiotic remark made & publicized by a hollywoodite there were thousands of wonderful, meaningful signs at TEA Parties. If you check out the pictures of the events on Flickr & elsewhere on the internet, you will see what I mean. btw, the parties had nothing whatsoever to do with including/excluding any race, creed, color, religion. Anyone who did not attend one should not be allowed to comment about them or judge them.
So many of the current/future Cabinet & Adminstration have serious issues ranging from being tax cheats (Geittner, Seibelius) to helping cheat in elections (Sims), so why in the world are ANY Republicans approving them? Are all Republicans becoming RINOs?
If any reporting on any network disparaged a gathering of hundreds of thousands of peaceful demonstrators the way the TEA Parties were described, the FCC would have levied huge fines, reporters/commentators would have been fired, the stations/networks would be apologizing with full-page ads in the NYT. As it is, because many want to believe these were 'Republican-Conservative-Christian-white-FoxNews only' events, disgusting & abusive language has been used to describe them; even lauded. It will be considerably less comforting to those same abusers to realize they are also abusing 'Democrat-multifaith-nonwhite' attendees also. How sad for them to take such a low road. Just when I thought 'journalism' could sink no lower than openly campaigning for one candidate/party, (rather than simply reporting news), they sink to a level even lower than before. Sadly, I believe 'real journalism' is in it's death throes, having given way to 'commentary pretending to be reporting'.
Why don't discussions of the TEA Parties note that Republicans, in addition to Democrats, were castigated for their spending & outrageous behavior? Why isn't there any mention of Republicans who wanted to address TEA Parties being booed off the stage or not allowed on-stage at all? Was it because they were simply 'booed' rather than being rushed or threatened or physically harmed?
Conservative is NOT a dirty, racist, homophobic, anti-Semitic, mean word. Neither is Christian. Most of the media seems to believe both words are hatefilled.
Most of the American people have to live within a limited budget, so why doesn't our government?
My latest favorite explanation of a politician is: dirt stupid. I do not care what 'party' they represent - I am not represented by any of them.
Happy 83rd birthday to my Dad - a proud veteran & good Dad.
oops - I made a mistake
Professor John Reilly is also trying to justify basing his projections much lower - because it has become a rallying point for Republicans. If Democrats were using them, I suppose he would be fine with it.
Now Prof. Reilly says that he believes the costs will "only" run about $800 more per year (and I hope you are sitting down & definitely NOT drinking anything because the following will cause you to snort) because Reilly ASSUMES the $3128 will be RETURNED to each household. More & more people who know about this sort of thing are saying that his projections are still too low.
Yes, in his dreamworld the government is going to rebate all that cost right back to each & every household. THE GOVERNMENT IS GOING TO GIVE BILLIONS BACK TO THE PEOPLE. Okay...you can stop snorting now & take a drink.
No wonder people no longer trust colleges & universities. Between this man's fuzzy math & his reality, is another entire universe. It's called THE REAL WORLD.
quick....make a u-turn....& pay attention
'Cap & Trade' is slated to increase the cost of energy for EVERY family in America by $3000, even President Obama admits this. Yes. You read that right. $3000. That will be a monthly increase of $250. How will families afford this? Add increases in taxes by allowing federal tax cuts to expire & state increases in taxes & fees, more families will be in dire straits.
The latest report from Spain should put an absolute HALT to the mentality that 'green' jobs can save our country - it has not worked at all for them & will not for us. It has, in fact, created many problems. They have warned us that for every job created by government 'green' programs, at least 2.2 were lost in the private sector & only 1 of 10 'green' jobs is actually long-term.
To quote the report from the Institute for Energy Research : "As this study makes clear, Spain has spent billions in taxpayer resources to subsidize renewable energy programs in an effort to jumpstart its ailing economy – and what they’ve gotten in return are fewer jobs, skyrocketing debt and some of the highest and most regressive energy prices in the developed world."
FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T READ THE REPORT:
"The following represent some of the study’s key findings:
-The U.S. can expect 2.2 jobs to be destroyed for every 1 renewable job financed by the government.
-Only 1 in 10 of the jobs actually created through green investment is permanent.
-Since 2000, Spain has spent €571,138 ($753,778) to create each “green job,” including subsidies of more than €1 million ($1,319,783) per wind industry job.
-Those programs resulted in the destruction of nearly 113,000 jobs elsewhere in the economy.
-Each “green” megawatt installed destroyed 5.39 jobs in non-energy sectors of the Spanish economy.
-The total over-cost—the amount paid over the cost that would result from buying the electricity generated by the renewable power plants at market prices—between 2000 and 2008 amounts to 7,918.54 million Euros ($10 billion).
-The total subsidy spent and committed to these three renewable sources amounts to €28,671 million ($36 billion).
-Consumer energy costs in Spain would have to be increased 31 percent to repay the debt generated by the green jobs subsidies.
-NOTE: According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), Spain’s annual emissions of carbon dioxide have increased by nearly 50 percent since the nation began its aggressive push to subsidize and support “green jobs.”"
The entire report is available at http://www.instituteforenergyresearch.org/2009/03/31/running-of-the-bull-us-green-jobs-rhetoric/
To me, the scarest 2 items in this report are: the loss of jobs in the private sector & the increase of emissions of carbon dioxide. Why are we trying to do what Spain has done, when it is NOT working? With data that proves conclusively we are heading in the wrong direction, we need to make a u-turn.
There must be a balancing of 'green' with reality. Drop all discussion & thought of 'Cap & Trade'. We need to drill in our own country, build more refineries, add wind energy where & when it is practical (read: not cost prohibitive), build clean coal plants. All are possible to co-exist without destroying the consumer with the cost or the environment. We need to be realistic in managing our emissions & find a balance that will not simply create more debt.
As more & more people are speaking up, politicians are finding out they just may be accountable for what they said as well as what they have done & are doing. TEA (taxed enough already) Parties should have shown Washington that ordinary people are fed up. But these Senators and Representatives seem to believe they are invincible. Come election time, they will spin & twirl, dance & dive, to prove to us how worthy they are to return to 'represent' us.
The Grassroots are spreading, growing deeper. DC would be wise to pay attention.
But when have they ever been 'wise'?
then I came back to the house.....
I am sick every time I think about this report. I am disgusted there is no data to substantiate the charges put forth in this piece of trash. I encourage you to download a copy, read it thoroughly & then decide if you are now a 'rightwing extremist'.
Are you white?
Are you Conservative?
Are you Christian?
Are you fed up with the spending in Washington?
Are you fed up with the national debt?
Are you concerned the U.S. is not as safe as it once was?
Are you fed up with politicians?
Are you worried about your job or have you lost your job?
Are you bothered by so many jobs being outsourced overseas?
Are you concerned about the new legislation to further restrict firearm ownership?
Are you in favor of stopping illegal immigration?
Are you against abortion on demand?
Are you against bailouts for companies that have run themselves into the ground?
Are you against paying someone else's mortgage when they lied to get one?
Do you own a gun?
If you answered 'yes' to any of the above questions, you just may be labeled a "rightwing extremist". In fact, by writing this, I will likely be labeled one.
Much of the information denoted in this "Assessment" claims origins from the 1990s. But, Bill Clinton was the President for most of the 90's & liberals are always talking about how fabulous it was back then. Yet, to quote the report "The current economic and political climate has some similarities to the 1990s when rightwing extremism experienced a resurgence fueled largely by an economic recession, criticism about the outsourcing of jobs, and the perceived threat to U.S. power and sovereignty by other foreign powers."
So, I am now confused. Again. Didn't we spend 8 years of President Bush hearing from Democrats how fabulous, wonderful, easy, & prosperous life was with President Clinton? Wasn't it all the fault of President Bush that the economy collapsed? That the Twin Towers were destroyed and thousands of people lost their lives? Oh, wait. That last one was because of terrorists who HATE us. They wanted - & still want - to see all of us DEAD. But all the rest was laid at Pres. Bush's feet. He didn't try to blame predecessors for the terrorists' acts, he blamed the terrorists.
Now we have a President who, after being in office 3 months, is blaming President Bush for mistakes he is currently making. Such as the one of putting Napolitano in charge of DHS. This someone who says illegal immigration is a "CIVIL" matter of law, not a "criminal" matter of law. Excuse me? She should get her boxtops back for whatever diplomas she got when she sent them. After the disgrace of this report on 'rightwing extremists', she should be fired. If it had been a Republican appointee in this position, the hue & cry would have been to burn them alive. Then fire them. Immediately.
As I read this report, I felt surreal. I could not believe this was possible to be published & taken seriously. This is America, I kept reminding myself. Yet this report tells me that we are in for far rougher times ahead. And I do not mean from 'rightwing extremists' either. My own government is trying to silence any dissent. How can this be? This country was founded because our forefathers were fed up with 'taxation without representation'. Their dissent against England was the birth of our nation.
Finally, I will leave you with this last tidbit from the report. To me it is the most offensive of all the 'assessments'. "DHS/I&A assesses that rightwing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to exploit their skills and knowledge derived from military training and combat. These skills and knowledge have the potential to boost the capabilities of extremists - including lone wolves or small terrorist cells - to carry out violence."
If you have a Veteran in your family, as I do (several), I believe you will find this as offensive as anything that could ever be published BY OUR GOVERNMENT. There is no basis to believe any so-called 'rightwing extremists' are planning problems anywhere - the report states that - so why publish trash such as this? Why insult the very men & women who are working to make certain our country stays free?
Napolitano could not have been more insulting if she had personally slapped the face of every Veteran who served & sacrificed this country. She should be ashamed but isn't. She should be fired, but will not be. She should have the good sense to resign, but she will not. That would take, as I said 'sense'.
Tea Party and...
On April 15th I went to a Tea Party here in El Paso, Texas where I am with my father. There were over a thousand people there & what happened was contrary to every media reporting script with the exception of FOX news. Note: FOX had nothing to do with sponsoring or organizing this event - NO BIG MONEY put this on. Here is my experience for you to decide for yourself if this 'grassroots' movement is real.
Every skin color, size, shape, gender, ethnicity, & age were there. Every political persuasion was well represented: Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, Green Party, Independents & apolitical people.
People talked about their vote & many said they had voted for President Obama -- note please, no one attacked them or screamed at them or berated them in any way. The common thread for those of us there was that before this, we all thought we were doing enough by voting, calling/writing our representatives about issues, reading newspaper articles, listening to the news -- all in an effort to stay informed. Now we know we were wrong.
There was no riot. There was no racism. There was no screaming in someone else's face. There was no burning of the flag - in fact, the American flag was displayed & treated with respect. No soldiers, VFW members, Legion members or veterans were spit on or called names. I did, however, see people step up to them & thank them for their service & sacrifice to our country. Tears came to the eyes of the vets, those thanking them & to those of us near enough to witness this. There were gun owners & those opposed to individuals owning guns. There were members of every - & of no - faith.
We burned no cars, tossed no malotov cocktails, screamed no obscenities, threatened no one. We did not shout down the main speaker, a university economics professor. No politicians spoke because it was a time for them to listen to ordinary people, that's IF there were any politicos in the crowd.
The upshot of the entire gathering was this: people are fed up with the government growing at an astronomical rate even as Americans lose their jobs; fed up with politicians saying whatever during a campaign & then doing the exact opposite after elected; fed up with government bailouts; fed up with lobbyists & lawyers running the government; fed up with the spending spree in Washington; fed up with the Constitution & the Bill of Rights being subverted; fed up with losing simple rights & liberties. Last but not least, most feel every Senator & Representative needs to be replaced because they are completely out of touch with the ordinary people of this country. Politicians only listen to their big money backers & not to the voters. Big mistake politicians!
After attending the Tea Party I was energized, hopeful once again for our country. I was encouraged so many hundreds of thousands of ordinary people are getting involved.
And then I came home......
Why are we surprised......
....that our daughters dress like streetwalkers (prostitutes) when that's what is shown to them on television, and in print, by their 'idols'?
....that our sons treat females as though they are all whores as they 'dress for sex' from a very young age?
....that our children have no respect for their parents -- who want to be the child's 'best friend' rather than a parent?
....that our children do not volunteer unless forced to, when most adults do not volunteer their own time?
....the generation coming through colleges right now have never had to suffer and wants, therefore ANY economic problem must be resolved by the government?
....the generation coming up now has their (collective) hand out begging because they are 'owed' all the things the Constitution promises us the right to PURSUE?
....the coming generations do not understand the difference between what is a RIGHT and what they WANT?
....people are not acknowledging that the only money the government has to GIVE OUT is taxpayer money?
....that people who have been handed everything are the very ones DEMANDING their rights, more money, more freebies, mortgage favoritism leaving those who quietly go about their own life in a solid way are still quietly going about their lives quietly & with calm & dignity?
....that any dissenting opinion brings screams of racism when the only ones I heard using that term were the very ones claiming to be on the receiving end of racism?
....that any respectful questioning of our President is met with screams & howls of outrage that anyone dares to question him at all?
....that the media lies to all of us over & over & over & then wants bailing out by the President, the Senate & the Congress for their bad business decisions?
Why am I surprised that people are not understanding the following: businesses fail, companies lay off workers, profit margins fall, stock prices fall (& rise), bad mortgages were given & therefore the owners will default?
But most of all, why does anyone think they are OWED a damn thing in this life? We each have the ability to get ahead. Stacking the deck in favor for one person/party/view will not now, nor will it EVER, guarantee success.
Grow up. Live within your means. Hold your representatives in Congress & Senate accountable. Do the best you can with what you have.
And stop demanding your RIGHT to have everyone else support you in the style to which you would like to become accustomed.
It is called GROWING UP. Try it. IF you dare.
are you surprised....
With the sexualization of America, with the pornographication of America - how can anyone be anything other than numb to sex/money/drug scandals?
My wondering today is: with the clothing that is being sold for women - young, old & in-between - what are prostitutes wearing now?
Sad to say, women are buying what is being SOLD to them.
In more ways than one.
What are you no longer surprised at/bothered by/shocked by?
